Is there a release date in the US for this yet?

This is the other set I'll definitely get this year (in addition to that Viking army builder). Just the weapon count alone is amazing. Last I heard, those patterned walls were stickers. Is this definitely true of the final version?

I counted 10 :!: figures. Five defending and five attacking. If that is what the final set design includes, I may try to get it, especially if they aren't all specific characters.

Not that I know of. This set could be foreshadowing other KKIII sets, like the new castle set. This would make business sense. If a parent can't afford the big castle, he/she can just buy the $35-40 fort next to it; the old Lego company did the same thing with Black Falcon's Fortress, Knight's Stronghold, etc.

I would assume that they're stickers, but I wouldn't put it past TLC to print them on the brick. As already discussed, the Fig and weapon count is great, but where are the sheilds? 10 warriors, 2 shields? The defenders should at least have some.

If this is any indication: Publication date: 24. July 2006. I agree with Falcon that we should probably expect the battle at the pass to launch along side the 10176 castle.

The set itself is solid. I would have preferred the use of the old prefabricated flat walls, but that's life, eh? Those bionicle things don't make much sense. I don't mind the absence of shields because we still get a ton of euro armor in decent colors this time, even if the torsos are blank. I'll definitely remember to stock up on these in bulk when they're on sale. :D

There have been things like this in previous sets, though.
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=8780-1 (in particular, the snake)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=8822-1 (big axes)
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=8877-1 (there's quite a few)

Is it just me, or do the grill helms look pearled, even a little? :D

I meant to say that their set up is odd. The enemy rams the doors open and then the defenders crank the bionicle thing on top of the attackers? I'd rather the set include some more weapons or shields than another bionicle gimmick that's tossed in without much forethought.

And, aye, those are pearl! :D

What I really like is that this set is modular and will connect to 8823 Mistland's tower. Of course the figures in this set are very welcome.

I'm definitlly not the fan of KK2 style...
Only thing that I might wish from this set ae the figs...
I'm trying to find something beautiful but i just can't... :(
These helmets are great, but i really don't like those shiny new colors....

I mean this can be compared to Black Kngihts'Stronghold from 1990 even if this have more parts and minfigs....And BKS will beat it....
10176 is a good try...LEGO should continue that....

Good point, and I agree. Bionicle is very un-castle. Ugh.

Interestingly enough, the two axes used in 8822 aren't actually Bionicle pieces - they are from the KK2 megafig sets (Sir Adric and King Jayko).

I like the look of this set - lots of metallic Knights and plenty of accessories. Also, it's the first proper 'battle scene' we've had since Vladek's Dark Fortress, with more than three guys on each side. Looking forward to this one!

What's this?! LEGO making a set we all want?! What has got into them?

Seriously, this is a very good sign that TLC is headed in the right direction. I just made a post in Tristram's review of 8821, so I won't repeat myself here. Suffice it to say that I never thought to see the grill helmet come back, and the color! TwoTonic Copper again (read the other post). I love the gold euro armor. 10 figs in a set! I may have to pick this up when it comes to the West Coast.

Way to go TLC!

This doesn't look right...

It's 60$ Canadian for all that stuff while those other two sets with three minifigs are 40$ish each.

Too good to be true 8)
