Poll: Purist or not?

Post by Horak the Great »

I've been wondering among those who participate (and lurk) in classic-castle.com's website: Who are Lego Purists (those people who exclusively use Lego brand items) and who aren't...

Methinks, maybe this isn't the best place to have this poll...

well, I'm in between actually. As long as it doesn't include decals, paint and xtreme customizing, I'd do it.

But you gotta pull out the maximum out of the lego brick...

Right now I'm a purist, and I'd never customize a LEGO piece myself, but if I got the money, I'd buy pre-modified parts and RedBean and Little Armory kind of stuff. I'd also never use clone brands like Mega Bloks and Best Lock. So I don't really know.

Well, if I get some costum stuff in a trade or something, I won't complain. I do like a lot of the work that the custumizers around here do. I will never ever purposefully destroy a LEGO brand Piece. I'm with Smcginnis, I will never, repeat never buy a clone brand.

My 2 cents,

I've never used a 'clone brand', but I mutilate peices on a regular basis. I've cut up LEGO and Little Armory and RedBean equipment, but only for minifigs- I think to create a new peice to fix a problem with you model is cheating in every sense of the word.

I use an exacto knife all the time to cut pieces to meet my needs. Heck, right now a I have a Bricklink order for 64 1 x 2 x 2 light gray panels, and I am going to cut off the tops of all of them to make a wine rack.

Strictly purist. If LEGO doesn't make it, I don't use it for building or accessorizing.

I do own a fair amount of Jeff's stuff from years ago back when Little Armory only made Star Wars weapons, and a few of the very original weapon sets and scabbards. I only use them in single figure displays for my shelves, and not in MOC's. They're equal (or better!) quality than official LEGO pieces, which is why I find them acceptable. ;)

I'm not 100% sure what the poll here is about, but I'll take a guess. Do you mean buy only LEGO products? Or cut/decal/paint LEGO? Or both/either/or?

I decided you meant the third and voted for non-purist. I do buy clones to spice up my stories or MOCs - the clones make perfect enemies or foreign nations. 8)

As for the cutting/decaling etc - I do like this part too, but leave it up to the more artistic among us to do the hard work, and then I just buy it. (My avatar is one of my more favorite customs)

As a collector, I consider myself as a strictly purist...
I would never have heart to cut some of the LEGO pieces, even if those are Jellybeans (maybe that's why I'm not buying them  )
But I think I would get some custom items, I've seen a few very impressive these days...

I cannot say that I am not. I am a Lego customization addict. I don't believe I have ever been satisfied with the color, shape and emblem of the lego brand product.

I'm purist since I dont like damaging original lego parts. However, I'm not against custom part use, unless they are made out of damaged lego parts. I also dont like perma decals, so I'm a sticker-decal fan.

Heh.. I just made the pole interesting, 8 pure, 8 not

I am a customizer all the way, unless the piece has any real value or is very rare then I have no problems at all chopping it to bits, I also decal, sculpt custom pieces, and cast some of my customs in resin.

However, I have not had the heart to destroy any of my Redbean or Little Armory pieces, I just..couldn't.

I voted non-purist, since I do modify fig stuff once in a while. And I really enjoy the work of many of the customizers here.
