In Honour Of An Aussie

Earlier today, the world famous Australian wildlife expert and television personality Steve Irwin was killed by a Stingray whilst filming a documentary at the Great Barrier Reef.

So in memory of the man and his passions, here is a vignette depiction of his life where he enjoys his profession with another Australian legend.

LOL, I still cant believe dr. croc was killed by a {expletive deleted} Stingray.

I mean, talk about irony, (horrible bastardization of the English language)?

I just found this out... I guess it was bound to happen eventually, but still too bad - I really liked this guy and his show, he did a lot of good educational stuff, and alot of good conservation stuff too~

You know, there's only been three recorded deaths by stingray in history...terribly ironic.

So it is true, Crocodile Hunter is gone...

I've never heard that stingray even hurted someone...
I really liked this guy and his shows, I just can't believe...
He died doing what he loved best...

I found it out today (I was at a Rock'n Roll festival). Anyways, I was pretty shocked and sad when I saw the news. He knew the risks and faced them, but failed at this one. May his soul rest in peace.

Steve Irwin was a great environmentalist/ conservationist who was a great ambassator for our country. He was always a lot bigger overseas that here in Australia but those larger than life characters don't come around too often.

When I was told about his death I really could not believe about it.. He was a great man who deeply cared for the animals.

This is a very nice MOC, and a great tribute to our dear Crocodile Hunter, you really did a great job with it.

I was completely taken aback when I heard the news. I mean, I always kinda figured something would get him sooner or later, but it's still a shock when it happens. He was such a likeable guy, and so enthusiastic about what he did. I mean, sometimes he freaked me out, like when he would take his baby down into the pit of deadly vipers and things like that. But still, you could tell he was the kind of guy you could sit down and have a (root)beer with. Untill a croc came barging through the door.

Your vig is excellent. It really captures Steve's moxie, and in a small package. Well done.

I read that he was swimming for fun, and while swimming behind a friend, a sting ray came up and stung him in the chest. Poor man. You would think he would die while doing his show, from all the crazy stuff he handles.

Very good creation. As someone else said, he would be proud.

THe story I heard was that he was doing a documentery on 'Ocean's Deadliest'

. I am not meaning to sound rude(sorry if I did), but rather to point out this. Interesting that there are different stories already.

Not to turn this thread off topic, but there is extensive coverage of this story in every major media outlet. If you're wondering what the real story is, you can find it easily online from several reputable sources, like the BBC, the American press, and basically every newspaper in Australia. I'm not trying to be a news snob

but I wouldn't want people to wonder about the circumstances when they're so readily accessible.
