Actually, I find the idea of combining them very tactical. On one area of the wall, you have a ram to make a hole large enough to get through and a device to get over the wall. You can get double the troops in very quickly.

Isnt that historical though? I mean not the silly catapult, having a tower over your ram.
That being said i do want to make mysel fa large armored ram with peaked roof, and mayhaps an archery tower.

I think that some rams had a low hung roof over them for protection from hot oil and rocks... But think about it... A Siege tower gets you over a wall. A Ram breaks down a gate...
They do not really compliment each other ya know? You are not going to use the ram on a 20-foot thick wall. And the tower is not going to get you over the gate house, which is normally taller than the adjacent walls.
It is still a cool set thought!

Pros:
1. Smallest set with "Troll Commander" until the impulse set comes out!
2. Siege tower design better than Knights Kingdom siege towers!
3. Handcuffs! (I got two pairs!)
4. Crossbowman!
Cons:
1. Only one castle wall piece...I'll never be able to rebuild the classic sets in new colors.
2. "Troll Commander" lacks a shield.
3. No weapons for the Troll in the prison.

Good point SIlvar
What do you guys think of the shoulder armor?
Different armor is good but......how much does that really protect?

Garbage! It doesn't work with the Troll Helm, and it's only shoulder pads.

Agreed. It looks WAY too spacey.

I just bought the tower raid set. I can't wait until my girlfriend gets here so we can build it together, she always insists on that.
I'd be glad to post a review of this set, and the dwarf mine defender. Would it be alright to post the review in a different thread specifically for it?

Man you have a great girlfriend.
Buy her a ring man! : )
ANYWAY...i find the helmet and armor do work together for me; however, the look of the armor...... Just not sure yet.

Yeah, I agree. I have no problem at all with the fit between the helmet and the armor. My problem is the armor is terrible. It would be better suited for classic-space.

Last week I bought the Tower Raid, Mine Defender, and Assault Wagon - the Tower Raid is the only one I have not put together yet.
I do love the Defender and the Wagon, they are both just so well put together with very impressive minifigs and great designs.
I love the way the Troll Construction looks slapped together with boards strewn about with a fierce and rustic look, the design is so consitent between each piece of troll architecture - and the same carries through to the Skeleton, Crownie, and Dwarf factions.
I think the templates Lego has created for each building style are wonderful, these official sets let us dream up countless variations, vehicles, and fortresses that are designed in the "style" of the chosen faction.
I think the Tower Raid is very evocative and I would like to buy multiple sets so that the Troll army could lay siege to the King's Castle Siege set which I don't own. Oh wait
