This is the set that got me started on Castle (not Lego, I've been building with them since before I can remember). Although I have bought previous castle sets for parts (small sets, particularly) this was the first Castle set that I wanted to have just for itself, to start me collecting Castle.
Awesome set. I only have one right now, but would like to get another (at least).

I've built at least three of these sets. To me they have some good pieces. I've gotten to use the oven technique with my latest MOC. So I say they're good. It's a little complicating at first but once your done you got six mini-figs, a troll, and a small mine.I got a lot of great pieces from that set. I just hope you'll like it as well.
If only I had more Lego. But more is never enough!!!
I first noticed this set back in feb of this year on ebay and its what brought me out of my 24 year dark age. I have wanted one since but didnt want to pay the ebay prices. I finally got one today and it was well worth the wait. My observations from building sets from the 70's and 80's as compared to today, it blows me away with how they have them designed today. I'm definatly back into lego and have no plans on leaving plus my 9 yr old daughter is having a blast with em too.

I have been debating about buying one of these... I saw it again though, after thinking it was too expensive, and If I'm not mistaken, did the price actually go up? I could have sworn it was really $50 last year, not $60... anyways, they need to make smaller sets with the Dwarves. Much smaller ones.
Get some quick figures...

Velliscig,
Nope your mind is not going it was 50 last year and went up this year in North America. Not sure why but there it is. The best small dwarf set so far for me has been the dwarf mine defender. My dwarf army was raised in this way as well as lego part orders.
I'd love to see a dwarf tower or some type of mean fortification. I think next year TLC should try to do a year without any siege engines.... including those silly flick missiles, especially on castles... at the least they could have made them look like a weapon besides some type of medieval rocket launcher
... Maybe it'd work in chinese armies for the castle theme.

Black Falcon I share you feelings on the siege engines. However, since the primary market is geared to children I doubt a cessation of hostilities (i.e. not flinging things around) is likely. Kids just love catapults and knocking down minifigs and castles with that stuff. A lesson I learned at brickworld!
A Dwarven mountain fortress would be the ultimate for next years line. I am afraid that the push to the elf sets will leave the dwarves unfinished. In reality the dwarves are only well represented in one set (the mine). Granted it may be one of the best castle sets to come out ever. Even the dwarf mine defender has only one dwarf in it. I just hope lego doesn't abandon the new fantasy races too soon. There is so much room to expand upon these areas.

Well I bought it! I love the set! The dwarfs and trolls are really cool! The set seems a bit small...... especially compared to the box. But I think it's definitely worth it!
so I'm a happy guy!

it's silver. the only other set that has the armor is the knight impulse set. it was briefly thought to be available from PAB for $0.18 but the "silver" color was actually pearl silver.timber_wolf899 wrote:Re the armor that comes with the dwarf mine, this thing looks 'brighter' than other armors i've gotten from castle 07-08. Am i nuts or is this a diff color? Graned it could also be due to the lack of printing on front.
