Also a nice selection of helms and headgear in the Prince Of Persia line coming up. I just hope they all make it out in widely available and not-too-expensive formats. :tasty:

yup, I've seen it, and my first impulse was to search for it on a bricklink... but it is not up yet :(
this could be (for me) the best armor made by Lego...

Why do the best figures of the range have to come out in the biggest sets?

I hope this fig is released in a smaller set so that i have a chance of getting the armor.

I know right! I guess it's that LEGO gets us to buy them.

Well, there's always bricklink too, but I'm guessing they're going to be charging insane prices for them. So I'm all for a small set with the warrior and armor.

The Portal of Atlantis set seems to have a bit of a nod to StarGate, a Sci-Fi franchise with it's own Atlantis mythos.

I'm really hoping they come out with either another magnet set or an impulse set with the Naga Warrior... I'd love to make an army out of him too! :D

Probably a but of-topic, but if you want to add more colour to your army, or if you like costomizing, the new 'Senate comando's' from the not-yet released Cad Bane's Speeder might be interesting

I do not see any difference between these Senate Commandos -vs- that found in the Venator set... The helmet is blue with a painted black visor. Not that much different than the manner in which the (current) Clone Trooper helmets are designed.

IMO, it looks like LEGO is just making these guys available via a cheaper set instead of getting that $120 Venator ship. Assuming they do not come in a Magnet set any time soon.

My bad , I hadn't noticed those figs were already used in another set, and at first sight I thought that the helmets were similair to the ancient greek model helmet with a black head beneath it...

I wish that LEGO had continued the design with the black head underneath the open visor helms for Clones as they were from the Attack of the Clones collection, but since they have converted to the animated style of the Clone Wars all the clone helms are closed and painted visors. The same holds of the Senate Commandos, and it is a shame too, because there would have been so much more potential for that helm had the visor been open.

As for the Atlantis figure, unless they become available in lesser part count and lower price point sets, I don't think it will affect my collecting too much. One would be fine for a gladiator champion, but until they are in an impulse priced set I am unconcerned with his watery fate.

Here are some pictures I took of combining this Atlantis armour with the Collectible Minifigs Vol. 2 Surfer torso and the Spartan's/Slave Leia's legs. Personally, I prefer the Spartan legs because of their side printing and sandal printing; I also feel the Slave Leia leg coverings appear too "skimpy" for a mighty gladiator type. The eye holes in the helmet are cut for the Atlantis sea creature minifig, whose eyes are much larger, resulting in a human minifig's head to appear a bit cross-eyed when wearing this piece. Also, compared to other Spartans/Romans, the character appears a bit short, due to both the shorter helmet and the impression that the Atlantis helmet and armour pieces connect (which they do not, but the resulting appearance of both pieces used together makes the minifig appear to lack a neck, if that makes any sense). The Atlantis minifig's sand green torso is useful for making mighty Troll gladiators/warriors as well (and even has back printing!). Overall, I really like the look of this Atlantis armour, Surfer torso, and Spartan leg combination and plan to keep this guy around, although I have no intentions of ever assembling more than two.
