That is so very true. I don't have any window treatments up yet, so that sound is almost magnified. I can drop the smallest element and know exactly where it lands. It is a very convenient attribute to a wood floor. You can also refinish it, or throw a rug on it for the soft/warm thing.
Can't really see much of the floor from the pic, but a nice thing about it is that I don't have any LEGO element that is the same color (choose your finish wisely- mine is somewhere between med tan and old brown), so I can really spread out and sort on the floor.

Any suggestions for my disorganized room always appreciated.
Don't worry. My room is so cluttered that I can't even walk without tripping and falling flat on my face! :( LEGOs are great, but can cause a big mess. :)

laminate.
durable, relatively cheap and easy to install.

I have run in my bedroom. But a harder surface would be easier. Then again it might be a little cold.

Cool topic!
But I'd probably go with a very short carpet, the kind you'll see in kitchens. It would be warmer and more comfortable on your feet than tile or concrete, but still fairly easy to pick up bricks
I agree with this - it's the same thing I have for my LEGO room back home. Think "office" or "hotel" carpeting.

If you drop a brick on wood or laminate, that baby is gonna travel - small cylinders or cones could roll under (insert anything here) and you'll be running after them. :) Plus... not comfortable at all if you have any thoughts of ever building on the floor. 8)

A carpet that is short is better.

A - When bricks fall, they still make a noise, but they don't travel far
B - It's more comfortable for you
---> when you are standing
---> You can build or arrange MOCs on the floor without getting a sore butt, knees, elbows, etc :)
C - It's easy to have the "carpet-installer-people" cover the whole room.
---> The idea of the big squares of foam rubber that fit together is excellent (that's my Yoga Room!) but you won't be able to cover all areas of the floor as easily without cutting them and fitting them yourself

A carpet like this is good stuff

I use linoleum and I think it is THE thing. It is not uncomfortable to sit on, and VERY easy to clean

That's a really nice space. If you search this forum for what some other people have done with their spaces you'll find some great inspiration.
