I was looking at those earlier tonight (they're from a member on Eurobricks) and wondering if this new 'detachable' fortress-wall system marks the return of the modular castle era.

hmmm......apparently the viking shields are plain & you have to put stickers on them :?
In this pic, I can see a sheet of shield stickers...

Well, it's great if you like design your own shield-patterns, and then, if you are not carefull when you put them on, the result could be pretty bad.

Any how, I do´nt really like it when they do like this :?

They're...okay. :?

I like them for the fact that they provide an alternative to KK2. I also like the swords. But they just don't FEEL like Lego. There's tons of Bionicle pieces slapped everywhere. It's as if Lego wants us all to start buying Bionicle like nuts. The figs look way too detailed as well, and the lack of any real solidity in the sets detaches from them.

I think I'll get that Wolf set, maybe for the armour and sword, but apart from that, it's the KK2 sets that I'll be hurling money at this summer. 8)

Actually, there are more BIONICLE pieces in KK2:2 than Vikings, unless you count the monsters. As far as the figs being too detailed, no such thing! I definitely prefer it to rainbow knights. And I don't know what you mean by solidity... they look pretty solid to me.

I think they look fantastic.

I was mostly thinking of the monsters, but I also don't like how the Fortress is flooded with them.

It's good that you like them, don't get me wrong. With so much negativity towards new Lego nowadays, it's nice to some gratitude here and there. By the Vikings, by all means. For what they are, they serve well.

And I love my rainbow Knights far more than a bunch of knuckleheads in horned helmets anyways.

Ah, poor Viking Fortress... flooded by four pieces! (count 'em ;))

But yes, I understand your point. Your impeccable taste is well demonstrated by your signature. ;) Ah well, more Vikings for my army!

ARE YOU INSULTING THE DUPLO KNIGHTS!!??? YOU WILL PAY! RIDE TO RUIN, AND THE WORLD'S ENDING! DEEEAATTTHHHH!!!!

Actually though, I counted eight Bionicle pieces in the Fortress...

Anyhow, you can keep to the Vikings, and I'll stay with KK2. It's just a matter of opinion, I suppose.

Vikings>All except Classic, Golden Age.

Me likey armor designs. I will use the horned helms for gods only, dark grey flares for vikings.

These sets rock(though Im not so happy about bionicle pieces). My old Frost Giant will feel...bullied...

Hmmm... I really like the box art or scene of all the vikings and what not, however, I am going to have to agree with Sir Kohran. There seem to be a lot of interesting parts to the viking line, and a good amount of pieces that could be used as MOC fodder. Although, I do not think the figures look all that great. I will definitely be spending more on the new kk2 sets. It just seems like there are more pieces for MOC's in kk2 sets.

Ps- Why does everyone refer to the kk2 knights as rainbow knights?...(aside from the colorful distinction)... the knights could just be referred to as...(this is a hard one)...knights? In my opinion they really are not bad minifigures, there is a lot of room to be imaginative or creative with them. I am sure that this has been discussed before, however, why exactly do most people not like them them?

PLEASE not another thread and/or threadjack about this.

Vikings looked so much better in the prototypes. However, I'll still buy all the sets.

I will likely buy most of the Viking sets, and I'm especially impressed with the dragons, this will be a new challenge for the Dragon MAsters, Mohahahahahaha!

The fortress is a must-buy for me, once I get the funds for it... and then we'll see what else.

I do not know if I stress this enough, however, I hope everyone knows that I am trying not to be critical or angry with any opinions different then my own (sometimes it is hard to understand the tone or message of a CC member as it can be hard to relay such things). I value and enjoy everyones opinion as much as I hope that my own opinions are regarded in such a way. Perhaps this message is very much out of place, although I thought it may be better to include it just in case. Thanks.

Ps- I suppose I probably should not have brought up the whole kk2 thing, lol.

I'll likely buy all of them except the catapult, and multiples of the small boat. The question is, what do I want most out of them?

I received the vikingship (7018) yesterday, and of course built it :D
On this picture (not mine) you can see the only two stickers of the set. My stickers were cut out wrong, so I wasn't to pleased with that. I don't like stickers at all by the way. Fortunately, de shield on the side of the boat are printed.
I like the minifigs very much :D The boat itself is a bit empty though.
