Oh, maybe we should consider the attacker on some cases. Vladek's castle is great, but Mathias' Siege Towers have that magical protection. Besides that, relying on a Mask to protect the entire army and fortress is not a good idea. Jayko could explain it very well.
Heh, good point.

If TLG expects people to expect to defend the castle with a mask, they could have at least put it inside the tower. Imagination wise, I suppose it's a good idea for the wee wuns, because they can think up different ways to use it.

By the Way, does anybody know what the mask does? I know it makes Shadow Knights stronger but is there another reason they would have a horrible bloody battle over it?

The same reason, I think, all of Middle Earth ripped each other apart over a piece of jewelry...

It uses one of the shards of the shield of ages, amplifying his magical power. Im not sure, but one of them could be the ability to create elite shadow knights, and reinforcing his own physical strength.

Go hit the goal (the Vladmask) for score! :D

I guess the same thing that happened to the elves happened to the Power Rangers

Well it looks like the Black Knights Castle is at the top of the stack. Does anybody have, or any idea of where there are pictures of the backside of it? I've never seen the backwall or the courtyard of the castle before.

A quick search on Brickshelf finds this.

My vote:

While not a castle by name:

Forestmen's River Fortress...those archers can do alot of damage...surrounded by water and only a narrow land entrance, easy pickings for the forestmen.

And this is a strong structure too...can hold up to some punishment...

Thanks!

I never that that was built on a CRAPP, cool.

Although I never voted for it, I think that the Royal Knights Castle was still the coolest ever made. Maybe it's just nostalgia, I don't know, but I've never found another castle on the same level.(But I'd say the Black Knight's Castle comes closest.)

6080

The King's Castle. 6086 is a close second, maybe even first, considering all the low level windows in 6080.

It's all about nostalgia!

Ulmaris Castle?

Black Monarch's Castle - 360 degrees of cool. It looks so much more beefy than all the other castles out there IMO. Brick built port cullis, jail, and all the defenders you'd need.

It's funny, once I heard that no official LEGO castle was perfect, the first perfect castle that came to mind was Ulmaris.

Maybe I should have added the Black Monarch's castle. Meh.

hi all,

ok, i may come a bit late. but i actually think that the fire breathing fortress is the best to defend. i own 6086 and 6080 as well, both castles only need you to breach one wall, or the gate, and you're in.

the fire breathing fortress is compact and has high walls. once the enemy is within, the soldiers can withdraw to the top where the enemy has to climb the narrow stairs. a spot that's very easy to defend. after that they can even withraw to the small tower, although there's only room for two in there :D (those unrealistic official lego castles) but for those reasons i think it's very hard to take for an attacker

greets,

the duke

i suppose id prefer vladeks dark fortress as it has plenty of space for archers and pretty good catapults, and high walls, strong doors, drawbrigde and pot of hot stuff to pour on peeps...
otherwise like most of lego creations it has a few holes in the walls that are easily squeesed through, and 4 figs really cant beat a huge beseiging army (that and i dont know enough about other castles to really set a point)
