Armothe(sp?) has some really good templates for making various clothing
related items, or you could use Lego cape/sail material and cut, glue, paint.

Head over to MCN (http://www.minifigcustomizationnetwork) where there are several usable surcoat and tunic templates. The outlines are already complete - just fill in the design, print, cut and apply!

But this is not what i am looking to make.

Im planning to design a new template for a barding, probably using the lego cloth/fabric material like blasterman suggested, and covering the head and front of the horse, as seen in the picture, not just the sides.

So i wont be using the official bardings anyway.
If anyone has brilliant ideas on that, please lemme know.
I will be trying to make one somewhere next week, ill keep you all informed on the progress.

The only way to really accomplish what you want to do either involves a lot of sewing or a lot of glue. It will be next to impossible to create a single cloth piece that covers the entire horse as represented in your first illustration. I currently use a barding template which doesn't utilize the TLG plastic barding piece, but requires sticker-back or glue-stick to apply. Good luck and let us know if you succeed!

This is beginning to stray off topic, but this a very popular subject clearly, so I urge admin to give us some leeway here.

I also encourage you to make TwoTonic (weird, even with spellcheck ) barding with Lego's design first, then step up to what would be a complete departure of the likes of Armothe's tunic-stickers or B-Man's stuff, etc. I've found myself very inspired by that picture as well. I need to give these stickers a try this weekend. Nicely done, this is the first "buzz" topic in custom in some time!
