Thank you for posting the links to the photos. I also really like the silver grill helms for knights. They are fantastic. We finally have a triangular bull's shield. The corner wall stickers are not as good as print, but atleast we will have options for bley corner walls. Now LEGO just needs to dump the huge kk2 wall section in favor of the smaller 5 wide 80's wall section. The sets also seem modular which is great. Are there any technic pins to connect the sets? Probably not.

Well now...
What can I say? I am impressed, very impressed. It almost kinda makes me wish kk2 would go on for a couple more years. not
I don't care anymore about my static budget, I'm getting that Battle at the Pass set. I love those generic soldiers, they have a great colour scheme and good equipment. This is how kk2 should have been.
The only thing that rubs me up the wrong way is the lack of quivers.

I think Sava meant the opposite- the former helmets- the danju ones, were placeholders and these are probably the ones we'll get.Sir Rupid Lannsing wrote:Although the silver grill helmets do look wonderful, why are they being used as place holders? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Im afraid we wont get a sugarloaf officially ever, Karzon was meant to have one (the megafig got a sugarloaf-like visor) but instead they gave him his minifig a barbute, sure the new gritty bronze is cool, but a sugarloaf would be better.
Well, atleast some sellers here are happy.

I like the Dragon creator set, and the "Technicity" of the 7-man catapualt is great.
I'm surprised at my dislike of KKII. The new armor patterns are nice, but for all the hype the summer KKII sets were getting, I just... don't like them.

Wow! I've been out of the loop.
Those pearl grey grilled helmets look amazing! As far as minifigs go, Battle at the Pass looks to please. I've been hoping for pearl grey armour for some time, and LEGO has finally come through! I also like Danju's visor (the best of the Jellybean Knights) and look forward to grabbing a few of these in Pearl.
The new Breast Plate prints are also a step in the right direction. Chainmail and rivets break up the otherwise monochromatic breastplate, making these guys far more exciting than their year 1 and 2 predecessors. And something must be said about the new heraldry. These shields look great! A much needed departure from the overly stylized designs of prior years. They almost remind me of some of fan made heraldry (a good thing).
Overall, KKII is definitely moving in the right direction! Depending on price (always an issue), I may end up picking up a few of these sets! Finally, after three long years, LEGO has finally given us some decent minifigs! Excellent.

Battle at pass looks like the greatest KK2 set yet! Well maybe not as great as Vladek's dark fortress. But so far, Battle at the pass has more figs than the giant dark fortress. That's good logic LEGO.
But please TLG, don't lower the fig count in BATP (battle at the pass). That would ruin the set, because besides the figs, it isn't too great.
EDIT: New pics f KK2:3: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/lar/P ... cn6970.jpg
Nice black armour and snake shield!

Edit: Probably not "inter-set" modularity though, it just connects to those two towers that seem to come in the same set. Or, have anyone spotted pins elsewhere?

Nope, I'm afraid I meant the other way around - the grill helmets being used in a place holder for danju helmets. The Hordesman wrote:I think Sava meant the opposite- the former helmets- the danju ones, were placeholders and these are probably the ones we'll get.Sir Rupid Lannsing wrote:Although the silver grill helmets do look wonderful, why are they being used as place holders? The leaked images we saw previously showed silver Danju helmets on all the knights that weren't using the Santis helmets.
The Nurenberg sets shows grill helmets.
The U.S. Toy Fair that Larry went to shows box art wth Danju helmets.

Now, granted, the battle at the pass is missing from the U.S. Toy Fair, but I'm guessing the box art more closely resembles the final set than the sets in person at the toy fair. The Toy fairs are notorious for having prototype, and even sculpy-like parts, in the sets as place holders. That, mixed with the idea that LEGO likes continuity between their sets, and so if the boat set has a Danju helmeted knight, the battle of the pass would most likely have Danju helmeted knights as well. This is especially probable since the 'bad guys' in the ship set match the 'bad guys' in the battle of the pass set. The good guys will most likely match as well.
Of course I'll be happy with either helmet, but I'm going to be betting on the use of the Danju helmet.
Given that the Battle at the Pass is smaller than the larger, tower-like set, I'm going to wager that the Battle at the Pass is a $30 set. The tower-like set looks like a $50 set to me, compared to the Dark Fortress ($100) and Viking Fortress ($70). The number of parts there just doesn't "look" like more than a $50 set. The next logical price point down from there is the $30-$35 price range, which is where I'm guessing the battle at the Pass will be.

Well, the box art for 8821 looks new. In fact, of the three sets shown at Toy fair, only 8821 looks to have finalized box artwork and a piece count (a paultry 152 pieces). It is very possible that the ealier shots (with multiple Danju helmets) were in fact preliminary. The thing is, these pearl grilled helms seem to be an odd choice as placeholders, considering they don't appear to be painted.SavaTheAggie wrote:Nope, I'm afraid I meant the other way around - the grill helmets being used in a place holder for danju helmets.

Of course, its all moot until we see a finalized product (either box art, or a physical set). Still, I'm holding out for pearl grilled helmets, as Danju's helmet, while interesting would undoubtedly become tired if overused.
And Anthony, I hope your right about pricing. I still suspect that with three seige weapons, a modular wall and ten minifigs, that this could be pricey. Here's hoping for your $35 price though.
Later.

On a lesser note: the first appearance of the Grey/Silver Danju helmet:

I don't want to put a damper on things here, but I remember around this time last year when the preliminary Viking pictures began appearing.
Everyone got all excited about the new beards, the Thor's hammer style new weapon. About the fact that the fort was shown with a roofed hall and that the ship had a dragons head built from individual bricks. . . . . . . And we all know what happened there, don't we!
So, I for one, won't be suprised about how many changes thee will be before these sets hit the market.
My own policy will be, to wait until a parts list appears on Peeron before deciding if any of them are worth spending any money on, and I have to admit, from what I've seen so far this year, well, it looks like it could be a mini dark age for me.
