Re: arms

Post by Lord_Of_The_LEGO »

I'm going to be in minority here as well and say no. I'm a strict purist, and the arms look way too clone-brand (sorry, but that's just how a feel).

I prefer my minifigs the way they are , but the arms ARE cool, they just aren't for me.

jeff,

i will definately buy one or two to play with, and then make a decision on whether to buy more - im thinking these will be nice for "characters" rather than solider-fodder.. the same as i use your weapons, etc.

keep this up! this is great stuff...

an idea - make it so it can use the regular minifig hand piece? that way it is one less thing to worry about in the respect.

just an idea.

I thought about using the Lego hand method from get-go,
but I wanted even more articulation at the wrist.

However, there's plenty of time to make changes and I'm
certainly not going to go ahead with this by any means.

Hi Jeff,

I'm torn!! On one side I echo some of the replies that it's a bit too un-Lego and at first sight seems more like a Megablok fig rather than a Lego one for me; on the other hand, I totally see and agree with what you're doing, and arms as such would definitely open up an entirely new realm of possibilities regarding customization (I'm thinking arm guards, wolverine's claws, two-handed weapons already!!). Can't wait to see the rest of your folder when it goes public!! :)

That previous message is from me. I promise I'll do a better job at remembering to log on from now on. :D

It may be a function of the pieces being clear, but due to the lack of mass at the joints, the arms just seem scrawny. Are they the same diameter as standard Lego arms at the upper and lower arm? They articulate reasonably for two handed weapon use or special poses - the only real questions is it too jarring of a visual difference.

Nice! Very cool! So I guess that would be a "Yes" from me then :)

I'm pretty much a lego purist, but I still wouldn't mind getting a pair of these either. Even to just use for archer's arms it would be worth it, I'm tired of figs firing a bow and arrow one handed, if you get what I'm saying.

If these are made, I would sure buy at least one pair. They would add quite a bit of fun to playing around with the figs as well. Is this why you had the shield that you set up the way you do? I thought I read that somewhere else (sorry if it was already posted somewhere in this thread, I just really skimmed over everything so I may have missed it)

Keep up the good work, now all we (maybe just me?) need are figs that have heads capable of rotating up and down.

in all honestey and respect, I say no. I don't like the bendibul arms. They don't scream 'Lego' to me. I'm sorry but threr is a line where lego ends in my mind, and you've crossed it. Just my opinion.

That would be why. Someone's paying attention.

They are the same diameter of the skeleton shoulder

Ok. For the few of you "it doesn't scream Lego to me"
people out there - You're right. This isn't Lego. Nothing
I've done, or will do, is Lego. I would hope that this stuff
that I do doesn't scream Lego at all. I did say in the top
post, "This is definitely "non-lego", for you purist."
In other words - custom parts.

I started this endeavor to produce unique, custom parts
(or accessories)that could be used with Lego IF people
wanted them. I'm not trying to change the minifig, or
take over anything. I'm only offering "something different"
for those who would want it.

Thanks for your continuing comments though.

Hi Jeff,

A request: Will it be possible to get some shots of a new fig (with rotatable arms) along side a fig with regular arms for comparative purpose? I think this might help determine whether the new arms will look out of place along side our regular figures (in particular to those who owns a large army and want to give their commanders a pair of those new arms). Thanks!

You know...I thought about doing that, and didn't.

I'll get something posted tomorrow.

As I already posted I liked them and didnt know the wrist where articulated all I have to say is WOW. Amazing. I might just be in that line now. I was pretty sold at first but now. I...am....just kinda.........speechless.

But another idea if all else fails (personally I dont see that happening) paint them like a red and use them for sausages at the market. Just a thought because of the "sausage" look. No offence meant.
