I really wanna get this set! Awesome figs, a tonna weapons (my favourite being the sparkling silver/black armor and halberds, and the fancy poleaxes), cool shields (but only two :( ), grill helms, rogue knight helms(though I was really hoping there would be at least one sparkling silver/black one of those), Skeletons (never enough skeletons).

But...
Stickers.
BURPS-Actually I don't really mind these. As long as they can make my castles bigger, I'm fine with 'em.
The Dumb Swords.

P.S. Dr Lucky, are the grill helms pearled, or just normal grey?

pearled. normal grey would have been better, but that's asking for a lot these days, for some reason.

Oh, shucks. Pearly grey just doean't seem to have the same feeling as normal grey. Normal grey seems to have more substance, more like a proper, useful helmet. How hard could it be to make them in grey? All the same, they are grill helms, and better than the other helms in KK2. Except the scorpion/rogue knight helms. Those are killer!

I actually prefer pearl grey over light bley for my minifig accessories. The grill helmets and spears look quite nice in this color. Of course I am partial to light grey weaponry found in vintage sets like the Yellow Castle.

Battle of the Pass is a superb set. I hope to post my nice alternate model to it whenever I get power back at home (which probably will not be for another few days). The wall could be better in this set but I like the various siege weapons and men.

i still can't figure out why lego seems to be so against making things in the old colors. i personally like the new colors, and am a very pro bley guy, but, for instance, armor (helmets) in the old grey would be fantastic. they still make black, why not grey?

thanks architect. your review sealed the deal as far as me getting the set, which i'm very glad i did.

Semi-plausible explanation: the afol's wouldn't like them? I've got nothing. It is rather curious considering bley is more metallic looking than old gray. TLC seems to be leaning toward more "realistic" armor colors. The King's Castle still has black helmets, which is odd if that's the case. (However that might be an attempt to rid their stock of that helmet in the old color.) Bley doesn't do it for me, so I don't mind if TLC only plans to use pearl, black, and speckled colors. That said, pearl spears don't look very good. The helmets are awesome, but brown or black would be more appropriate spear colors.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=cas297
while in the battle at the pass he has the same body, but a different head, which is the same as vladek. it's weird.
I think, story-wise, the guy in this set isn't actually Dracus, he just has a similar uniform. He's a lesser lieutenant leading Vladek's army to distract the Morcian forces while the real Dracus is off helping Vladek raid the Mistlands Tower.

This set makes me think it is some sort of remake of the classic 6059 Knight's Stronghold set (released in 1990).

The defended wall is quite similar. Difference is that the attacking force has more weaponry at its disposal minus a fully armed horseback knight. I think this set should have had at least one horse and I would have accepted less knights instead (let's say 1 less + leave out the skeleton that does not fit in too well in my opinion, a skeleton should haunt huge castles).

It has been said before that the yellow leg assemblies does not fit the knights very well (referred to as underpants knights). I agree to that. A darker color in any combination (black, blue, dark grey, bluish grey, etc.) would have been a better choice making the rogues look more evil.

Also, I think it would have been nice if the factions were more generic as Lego used to do with black falcons and crusaders (lions and crossed axe knights). Especially the defenders seem too "scattered" in color (different legs and armor colors).

Hey everyone! I havn't posted in a LONG time, nice to be back.

I just bought this set. The first thing you notice is the ridiculous amount of weapons- there are sooooo many its insane.

Lots of figs obviously- 10 in $40 set is excellent! However i was stuck by how ugly they all are, set up as in the instructions. The pearl helmets over the copper armor look extremely stupid, especially with GREEN legs. We also have 3 "bad" knights wearing thongs w/ no pants... this is extremely odd. And idk about yall, but this new "all in euro armor" is overdone. W/ the old traditional conical helmet, the bulky armor looks kinda sill. Also im not sure why TLC feels the need to print on their perfectly good euro armors either.

However despite their ugliness, the figs arnt really a bad thing- a little mix n' match of legs and armor and stuff and they can look great.

The model definately lacks a lot. Those huge wall pieces with the barred windows really are awful- way worse than you might think. If you ever thought the old castle wall pieces were bad, you'll pray for TLC to bring them back. I HATE these pieces. They are the equivalent of the [content edited by admin]. Seriously, these pieces are ####. There, i said it. :P

edit: lol what happened to changing curse words to megablocks

That's gotta be the funniest line I've ever seen on cc!
I share the same hatred for those pieces.

What!? You guys complain about KK2 lacking figs and weapons, and then, later, you complain when we get lots.
However i was stuck by how ugly they all are, set up as in the instructions. The pearl helmets over the copper armor look extremely stupid, especially with GREEN legs.
I have this set, and I think the green/silver and the green/gold works very well. And anyway, if you're THAT annoyed by the design of a Lego set, can't you just change it around?
We also have 3 "bad" knights wearing thongs w/ no pants... this is extremely odd.
Huh? If these guys had no underwear, their leg pieces would be entirely yellow. But they have black on the tops, like the Roman Legion skirts.
And idk about yall, but this new "all in euro armor" is overdone. W/ the old traditional conical helmet, the bulky armor looks kinda sill.
I thought we all wanted Euro armour? And anyway, these guys aren't wearing conical helmets - those helmets are generally for archers, and archers don't wear heavy armour.
The model definately lacks a lot. Those huge wall pieces with the barred windows really are awful- way worse than you might think. If you ever thought the old castle wall pieces were bad, you'll pray for TLC to bring them back.
I think the wall/gate design is quite well-done, especially for a medium price set. And the barred windows are fine with me.
They are the equivalent of the [content edited by admin]. Seriously, these pieces are ####.
Well, this tells me everything I need to know about whether to take your review seriously...or not.

You guys just can't be pleased, can you? You ask for dark Euro armour. Lego gets it, and you complain it's too bulky. You ask for generic soldiers. Lego gets them, and you complain they look weird.

Basically, Lego just can't please people.

I seems like people just have to find one little thing wrong with it or it can't be made by TLC.

I love this set! If I could, I would buy 10.

Well you have to admit, after everyone wanting generic soldiers in KK2, that you think they wouldn't complain when they got them.

But of course, Battle at the Pass isn't perfect. Only 2 shields.

I also agree with Matt.

10 figs? Even if some have yellow legs? 10 figs is still a good thing man. There hasn't been a huge KK2 castle with 10 figs yet (with the exception of the new castle) and I don't mean older sets, they often had 12 figs -often more generic too.

If The LEGO Company made The Perfect Set(tm) some people would still rip it to shreds.

I hearby present this: Whoever feels TLC is going in the right direction, please put this in their sig:

I'd give the LEGO Company a pat on the back if I could. Thank you for the excellent sets. You are truely going in the right direction.
