It'll be a tight squeeze, but the two buildings will fit, at least. The base of the blacksmith shop/stable is 32 x 8 when opened and 18 x 14 when closed. As for the pub, it's base is 28 x 13 when opened and 16 x 17 when closed. And then there's the tree and market stand, etc. Might want to go with two of those plates. :wink:

Anyway, have fun with this set. It's fun to build, but a complete pain to sort out. It's got a ton of bags of parts that aren't numbered at all. Took me over six hours to get all the parts sorted and assembled. It was a bit more challenging than most of the other sets I've built. At least it wasn't as monotonous as the Troll Battle Wheel, though. Ugh...

All in all, I love the village. It's awesome. My girlfriend pointed out that it was pretty small, but then I showed her how the buildings open and all the interior details, as well as the minifigs and accessories that come with it. She was pretty impressed with everything you get for the price with this set. I'll definitely be getting at least one more of these. :D

I have not done anything castle related in close to six years, but after seeing this set, my imagination and salivary glands are out of control. This is simply the best looking castle set I've ever seen.

Here is to getting out of my dark ages :)

After barely 6 days online it's already on backorder in Europe. I hope this is good news for future civilian sets.

Ordered on Boxing Day, but still waiting. The posties don't go back to work until Monday though I think, so it should be here next week.

Got it, built it. Am rather impressed. Was a great build.

Things that are pluses:
cows.
brick built birds.
the figs..oh the figs are awesome.
all the food.
while I have a turkey already...a second turkey rocks.
I found the buildings to be unique and highly detailed.
Enough extra parts to doll up the houses in awesome and creative ways.
Dark green leafs.
All the dark brown spyglasses are so tasty.

negatives:
I'm not real fond of the pre-made staircase
I'm not really fond of the gap in the cows
Sorry people, but the tree just isn't all that impressive to me.

That's the short of it.

I like the horse-drawn cart a lot. Simple, but nice. And the translucent plumes being used for flames in the torches and blacksmith's forge are interesting, too. The fireplace is okay, but I really like the stove with the opening door. And the bed is nice. I'm going to build a few more of those using different colored bricks. Same thing for the market stand. It's just a really neat set. The Final Joust set and a few mini-sets from the Castle Advent Calendar will make nice additions to it, as well. Now I just need some green baseplates...

Sorry people, but the tree just isn't all that impressive to me.
Like most LEGO set trees, it will probably, most definitely look better in small or large bunches. Thanks again for showing me how it goes together, the top was a bit of a mystery and was driving me crazy. Now that I know how simple it really is, I'm a bit embarrassed. :oops:

why is this taking so long for legoland at the mall of america to get this in? is our legoland inferior to others?

yup. i don't have the parcels with me anymore but i am pretty sure it says de. shipping takes 18 working days. just go to shop.lego.com, click on the shipping and handling page and click on australia. you can see the shipping rate and the delivery estimate. it's ridiculous. :roll:

it is probably faster if they ship from cali. :D on that note...it's quite interesting that they don't have an asia hub. afterall, we see large lego fan base in australia, new zealand, japan, hongkong and singapore. they should really have one here to improve on their S@H services.
guess what? miracles do happen! i ordered a new S@H shipment just a few days ago and it has arrived. no more than 3 days.

this time though it came from billund, dk. i guess it depends on which warehouse processes your order. this was the fastest ever i receive any parcels from S@H. even faster than in the us.

nah...it's mostly to resell. i think the mail car is well designed and should be a great seller. it's a cheap set, and will be low risk in terms of reselling.

you should be looking at the MMV instead. it's tucked away in the lower left corner. :lol:

Can anybody who's got this set tell me the 7-digit instructions numbers that are normally printed somewhere on the last pages of the instruction booklets?
