People have been posting armies and whatnot for the LCC. Are we actually supposed to start yet?

Oh thanks!AK_Brickster wrote:Hayden, an official "sign-up" thread will start as soon as we're done with the lore submissions, which will itself be starting probably later today. There is a "Gauging Interest in LCC" polling thread where people are discussing which faction they may want to join, if you want to check that out
first off, no offense, but I barely under stood what you said there, and second, the sign up thread will open after the lore contest endssir aleks the bold wrote:are sign ups open and if so can u post the ink spent an hour searching and only found the merchants guild

well from what I have heard outlaws and Garhim are defiantly the most popular, so if you want a small faction I think lenfal or loreos would be the way to go, also take into consideration that magic is "frowned upon" not completely outlawed so you can still build with magic if you want to you'll just have to be a little more discreetkoffiemoc wrote:Here's what haunts my head for days now: greens or blacks? I'm in great doubt which faction to choose and reading the back stories that have been put online so far doesn't make this choice any easier.
There are two factions that stand out for me. Of course the 'black' outcasts. I like a touch of mystery, of the weird, surprisingly strange and unnatural possibilities it gives a moccer. I like them to inhabit all lands in secrecy, and to have a mystic isle somewhere. It would be great to have a winged elf as prime character. And small groups of unadapted outcasts and underdogs have my sympathy rather than great, regular armies with their usual swagger. But. When I look at the sigils I see a bunch of guys (trolls, orcs, 'fright' knights with funny bat-eared helmets, and boring skellies) who don't make me feel at home. The only figs I dig are the wolfpack. The main ways of living seems to be theft, murder, smuggling and doing magic tricks a la David Copperfield. Not my prime business, I'd rather be a craftsman. And then there's the color, black. Sigh. Such an unfriendly color.
On the other hand, there's the green group. Forestmen, or Robin Hoodies as I called them in childhood. And building wooden structures, trees and boats, yess! I recently found that building a wooden castle is great fun. And green with yellow is a very fashionable color-combi.

The downside is, it's a bit dull being so normal. I mean, Hoodies are fine, but not a single one of them stands out as the hero from our novel. Would it be challenging to build again a Tudor style house we all know so well? And no wizard or pixie for prime character.
Now I'm curious about two things. Have I forgotten any arguments pro or contra? And is any of these factions growing overlarge? (I'd rather pick the smaller one.)
Plus your lenfal armies don't have to be all swagger, they could be a group of skirmishers that are but a company of men, looked down on by the army but very very good at their job.lord_of_orks wrote:well from what I have heard outlaws and Garhim are defiantly the most popular, so if you want a small faction I think lenfal or loreos would be the way to go, also take into consideration that magic is "frowned upon" not completely outlawed so you can still build with magic if you want to you'll just have to be a little more discreetkoffiemoc wrote:Here's what haunts my head for days now: greens or blacks? There's a LOT of variation between German and English styles, so that leaves lots of options, which is good.AK_Brickster wrote:Think "traditional" European castles, ie Germany, France, England. As opposed to Garheim's Nordic style and Loreos's Crusader/Middle East/Mediterranean style. That's about as defined as it is, so knock yourself out!
