The point I was trying to make is that TLC has progressively become worse over the last decade. If that trend continues, sets will get worse.
When these sets go on sale, I may buy them and the smaller sets will definitely end up seeing multiple copies. Not enough to build armies out of, but mostly for parts. Despite KKII's drawbacks, there are enough decent parts to warrant purchases at discount prices. I'll eventually get my armies from Bricklink though.
Even at 50% off I will likely never buy the Morcica castle or the Citadel set. Or the joust for that matter. Hmm perhaps you are right Mr. Squeezer of Lemons, these sets may never be worth it.

They are undoubtedly capable of producing good sets - those Sculpture sets, the Maserik Sealiner, and the new Ferrari line are witness to that. However, they continue to shovel garbage at us in other themes. I hope you see the point I am trying to make.
I don't think its all that perplexing. I think that TLC is trying to make both sets that are well-designed, and sets that are popular with kids.
Their problem is that they haven't yet hit on the brainwave (obvious to us, but obviously not at Billund) that the two can be combined.
Surely, kids wouldn't mind soldiers to go with their jellybean warriors (they like the Bionicle matoran, right?).
Surely kids are smart enough to build castles with more pieces (I mean, keep the crappy designs if you want, but don't use pre-molds)
Surely, kids....
but enough said. You get the point.

This is the worse Castle ever, not because of the premade parts and the colors, but look at it, it's like a pile of Legos on top of each other, it's so wrong.
Now I haven't bought or seen in person the new Castle of Morcia, but...
In my mind, anything is better than using a giant pirate sail as the back wall of your castle.

"In my mind, anything is better than using a giant pirate sail as the back wall of your castle."
You ridges allusion to the castle of KK1 ???
Precisely, I find that in spite of the use of much of very large briks, the castle of Morcia gives a certain impression which I like (not as much as other castles but more than that of KK1)
It is not made for the war (what however is said by lego) and is directly of inspiration of KK1 (even plate, the even shape of cone) but have remark nevertheless a more fantastic side.
And then the future tower of seat (if it really exists) is not badly with such a fantastic spirit him...
The difference between KK1 and KK2 is the fact that they passed of a pseudo-realism to complete fantastic. This is a good thing or a bad thing ???

The KK2 line remind me of a television serie name Xcalibur. It's actually playing here in Quebec. It's made by computer and it's kind of mix of castle and knight with futuristic inspiration castles.
Maybe Xcalibur is playing in other country... Did someone know what I'm talking about ?
Anyway, when I compare KK2 to this TV serie I'm thinking that KK2 is not so bad.
I can't say I'll buy one of the set soon because of the prices. The prices of these sets in Canada are too much high for me. 129,99$can for Castle of Morcia(632 pieces) is too much. It's about 0,205$ per pieces. The Citadel of Orlan has a more reasonnable price. 69,99$can for 442 pieces. About 0,158$ per pieces. If I apply the same price per piece(0,158) to the Castle of Morcia, it should cost 100,07$. What explain this difference in price ? Is the raised baseplate costing 30$? I'd like to have an explanation.
And as Jojo, when I compare with Fright Knight, I change my mind about Fright Knight. I now think that they were good sets...

What disapointed me the most in KK2 is the lack of archer and mercenary.
At least TLC didn't forget their Castle fan. They did not created good castles as they did before, but at least they tried !

No no. It was an IMPERIAL sail.
Let's not forget all these juicy, essential little details that more than anything else make us AFOL/TFOLs different from KFOLs.

King Leo couldn't afford to build a ship nor afford to complete a wall, so he just ordered for the sail to be placed behind his throne. Eventually the first Knights Kingdom fell due to bankruptcy and got replaced by the 2nd Knights Kingdom.... which I foresee to also fall rather quickly.
Think of Vladek as someone trying to bring back the old order of the Lego Castle. He IS a knight in black armor, an allusion to the Black Knights.

To Luis and Lord Resta:
But do you think that KK2 sets look like Xcalibur concept ?
To Jojo:
It make a nice addition to space helmet. The new KK2 helmets look like Stars War helmet. Like the one of Jango Fett in particular.

Well, it's not much like Xcalibur. I see you're point.
