I, Michael A. Joosten, am insulted by KK2
1.17yrs,5m,11days,etc.
2. Purist turned Customizer
3. Realistic MOCs from a fantasy world
Those last two questions were pretty tough, as I don't customize pieces with regularity, but I am an insane stickerizer (Anthony's fault!). Also, my MOCs are from a fantasy world, but they are very much grounded in realism, and if I knew anything about real castles, I'd try to builod in a similar style.

I, Bruce N H, am not a fan of KKII.
1. Age: 35
2. Purist
3. Accurate Mocs or Fantasy Mocs
Who's to say that Fantasy isn't accurate.

I build mainly in Tolkien's Middle Earth.

I,
Alan.... um... KKII? <shrug>.
1. 42 (the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything)
2. Customization if necessary, but not necessarily customization.
3. Accurate? Hah. Realistic? well, we're talking little plastic bricks here, so use your imagination.

Dragon Master wrote:I have a theory on KKII and why some people like it, and others hate it.
Time to draw some conclusions?
My theory is this, people who are too young to have experienced "Classic-Castle" sets or have no way of getting them like KKII becuase its all they know.
A number of young people have responded that they don't like KK2.
The other group I find that is attracted to KKII are large scale army builders and storyline makers, who need different lines to add variery to their collections.
JP likes 'em for that. I'm indifferent. Will doesn't like 'em. Split decision.
On the other hand people who hate KKII seem to be purists, who have no desire to customize the helmets and armor. And older fans and moderate to major set colectors who know and like the quality of the older sets.
Again, numerous respondents like it and are purists.
Another group of people who dislike KKII are people who desire accurate castles and soldiers (although there has been some arguments over this matter, but find me a real knight clad in purple armor with a visor as big as a barrel, and I'll shake your hand).
Lots of people who identified themselves as customizers said they didn't like KK2.
I think you had an interesting theory, but I'm not sure the results are really confirming your hypothesis. Seems to be a rather personal reaction. Thoughts, anyone?

Richard. I'm warming up to them, but remain ambivelent.
1. AFOL
2. Pure customizer
3. Both
Like TTK before me I revel in the chance to blow up surveys! 2 and 3 are not mutually exclusive. As UCLA Bruce notes, fantasy and historical each occupy perfectly legitimate positions.
As for KK2, I'm old enough to regard Lions and Falcons as the "new" castle line!

(looks for bottle of Geritol). I have been disappointed in the castle line since the advent of the Fright Knight fiasco. But TLC is after all a toy maker, and kids buy most toys, or at least badger their parents into it. My kids love KK2. As with the other sets and lines have not been enthralled with, I'll pick and choose what I want and integrate it into my collection. I think the lack of any results pointing to any conclusions is indicative of the general ambivelence, and the fact that the line is very new. Ask this a year or two from now or the resultsare likely to be more conclusive. Great ropic though.

I, Dan dislike KK2...
1. 17 (18 next month)
2. Purist, light customizer
3. Accurate, realistic, very light fantasy
The two KK2 sets that I bought, were not that great. I already put them for sale in my bricklink store.
Feel free to take a look

Red Bean neither likes nor dislikes KK2. He's simply put them in the category of 'Jack Stone', which he'll never buy any of (except to pick up 1 or 2 of the swords from ebay).
1. Over 20
2. Customizer
3. Both
