No. Unlike my example of writing this post, you should post on-topic, post maturely and properly, and use proper internet etiquette. For example, not posting to gain higher ranks, not posting rude things to other members, or anything else that is rude, inappropriate, annoying or otherwise negative. :)

Who knows...

Personally, I think they look cool, but that's just my aesthetic opinion, and the sets are crap, but here's my theory:

The Dragon Masters are ambiguous. Unlike all the previous themes, they weren't smiley, happy-looking people. These guys looked like they had a wildness. And yet, they weren't clearly evil, like the Fright Knights.

See, TLG, this is why you shouldn't invent stories and stuff. These sets were crap, and yet, ten years later, many of us remember them fondly. Even though we know better and have grown up.

Everybody sure likes the question. So, I gotta put in my two ha'penny's worth:

Everyone does not like Dragon Masters. In fact, they usually end up low on opinion polls. But they do have their adherents. I think I can sum them up in one word: young.

Let's face it, they have a haphazard if not plain hideous color scheme. They don't just have the ugliest herladic dragon in all of history - they have the TWO ugliest dragons in all history. A funky helmet that hides it's medieval base under an inappropriate (to the helmet, though not the theme) and busy crest. There isn't much to like about bulk of the Dragon Master figs.

So what is the appeal? I think people like the idea of the Dragon Masters. They aren't cast as good guys, but at the same time they aren't specifically cast as evil. They have a magician. They have dragons. And I suppose it helps to be young and probably be in the Ed "Big Daddy" Roth art development stage (where hideous is cool). :D

How's this for rebel? I like the 375 castle factions. They were my second castle set back in the Golden Age of Lego castle. I like them precisely because, as it was put earlier in this thread, they have no story from Lego. As a young teen in the late 70s early 80's I made my own stories and such. Thats what I like best about Lego, the imagination it unleashes. Wait, I'm getting maudlin again...

Hi

I like the Black Falcons and Lion Knights, mainly due to their nice emblem design.

I guess people like the faction thaey're "borned" into ie one of the factions present when they first came into castle.

Or maybe it's as simple as the first factionm that happened to be in that box under the christmas tree when they first got their hands on a castle box.

And then to the DM's...

I like this faction because they are cool, thay brought something new into Legoland, for good or worse, with their dragons, wizards and so on. That sort of thing make a big expression on a 8 year old.

Then you could wonder, why I still like them 11 years later. I would say because they're still cool!

I love all the the themes ever made by LEGO since 1984-2000.

If I had to pick only one then Forestmen are definitely the best !!!!

I'm a big fan of the Wolfpack and the Forestmen. I guess I'm just a rebel.

You and me together Bruce! I think the Wolfpack rock! I am planning to build a small fortress for my small army of wolfpack soon. :)

The Dragon Masters...are The Masters of Dragons...that's why...they are dragoons...what's not too like about them...they even had that "Dragonapult"...If you ask me they are the most powerful army because they can just summon a bunch of dragons and burninate the land...

I also think that the first sets of lego you get, according to the theme, that is what your favorite faction will be.

Unfortunatley, I wasn't able to get any 80's sets back in the day, so my favorite theme are the Black Knights (I dreamed about the castle, never had it). The falcons...Awesome :D Those are the two best factions in my opinion.
