That's a good point. But let me ask you this - how many uses are there for the pre-molded horse element? How many uses to the elements have that make up the brick-built horses? The same can be said about the castle. As an "MOCer" there is no doubt in my mind which of the sets will ultimately be the most useful

New castle.

I don't buy sets. I buy a box full of parts.

That said I already own 3 of each color of visors from the Yellow castle (the only part of the set that interests me) that I bought from various places around the internet (I even gave a spare 4th copy away as a prize). On top of that, buy buying the visors seperately I spent less than I would trying to buy the whole set. None of the figs had printing on their torsos (IIRC), and I dislike the armor.

The new castle has a lot more going for it in my eyes, even with the new grey, which someday I'll find a use for.

I voted for Old Yeller on the strength of the Maltese Cross fig and the visors, which are really the only things I'm very interested in in either set. Also, plain bricks of whatever color are always useful.

Hmm, I am not a huge fan of the yellow either, but you have to admit, building wise it's great. The variety of parts is great, affording the builder with many more choices of MOCs to build from it. I do like the looks of hte new castle compared to other recent stuf, but the "build it with bricks, not BURPs, or BU-whatevers" doesn't really shine as much with it.

It was a long hard struggle but was the final outcome ever in doubt?

I love the Yellow Castle, I would prefer a big pile of yellow bricks to a small pile of premolded parts. That and all the knights with different heraldry look great together.

Tadaa... my first posting ever here on CC. Well. I went yellow. Why? I am actually old enough that I probably saw it on the shelves in my local toy store. The yellow castle ("Gula borgen" in Swedish) was quite mythical even in the early 80's. A lot of kids talked about it and wanted the castle, but few had ever seen it... Sounds familiar? :)

I agree with supernova's idea. Since the Yellow Castle is so rare nowadays, and since I like both castles, I'd choose 6075/375. I'll have ample opportunity to buy the new castle this summer, but I'll never be able to just walk into a store and buy a new Yellow Castle (at least not until my time machine is complete, MUAHAHA). Also like supernova, I don't mention the rarity to imply resell value, but to emphasize desirability. If I ever buy a Yellow Castle set, I'll do so to keep it for myself--not to make a profit later.

I don't really take the sets' parts into consideration, because if I bought either set, it would be for the set itself and not the parts. Of course, that's just for the first set. If I have multiples of a set, I only keep one together, and the others go into the parts bins.

yeaaa for once some1 agrees with me :)
but i must say my biggest takeaway from the yellow castle are the figs and the cool visors. i personally prefer the moulded horse vs the brick build horse, and a grey/black castle over a yellow 1, both of which the yellow castle is lacking.

That was just my opinion - I said 'I chose'. I never meant that anyone else 'should' vote for it. Isn't the whole point of a poll to show your opinon?

Also, what I meant with 'beyond compare' was that I'd take the Yellow Castle pretty much by default simply because it's the oldest of all Castle sets - it started everything that we know today. The 2007 castle can't compete with this - but that would obviously be an unfair way of judging them, so I just said they were beyond fair comparison.

Anyhow, sorry for not being clearer.

I have it safely tucked away w/ it's orig. box!!

Don't get me wrong the new 07 Castle is really nice too!

But for me the Yellow Castle has a special place ;)
I so love all the use of oirg. castle parts in the new sets too!

Can't wait to get all of em!!!

Happy Buidling-
