I wonder how much of the poor sales was the idea of the legands line or the marketing?

Lets say you want to sell a BFF reissue. If you market it as a legand us old guys will go nuts but it wont attract the kids. Why not jus tpackage and market it as part of your current line? We'd still recognize a BFF and the newbs woul dhave more incentive to buy.

You need to have the LEGEND of BLACK FALCONS FORTRESS vs the VILE LICH LORD!

Can the steadfast Black Falons hold off the Lich, an ancient undead wizard and his army of gnoll pups?!

Personally, I wouldn't want centaurs or lizardmen, really that has NOTHING to do with castle and more to do with myth. I'd want more historical factions, maybe some arabian looking armies like the crusades, or different kinds of Europe-ish factions. These are still pretty unlikely though...
This is my first post so be nice.

But as Lord TylerII said
human factions would be nice, more historic and realistic.
Maybe Medival Polish empire because those troops looked awesome. Plus they conquered and held Mosqoue for three years, nobody else in history did that.

wiches, wizards, magic, undead, goblins, trolls, dwarves, now elves.
There's no more fantasy stuff 2 make.

Unless they get rights 2 The Hobbit, I don't see any fanasy in the future past the elves.

Pesonally, I prefer realistic castle, if they go back, C()()L!
Sorry about the double post  I dont know how to double quotes in one post but here is what I have to say

Well I was thinking about the elves rivals and well, I think that the goblins will be it.
Because the goblins are suposed to attack the dwarves, yet in the
Tower Raid the are messing with the men.
So I figure it's possible that they will be the elves rivals, and their master the Wich.

I am glad for the Fantasy influence. Part of the reason why I like Castle so much is the figures lending themselves to fantasy story lines. Having collected LEGO Castle since Lions-Black Falcons I agree that Castle will shift focus in time, possibly away from the Fantasy theme. But I do see how well Castle is selling now so this shift may be delayed.

I have been waiting for a more Fantasy theme for Castle for quite some time. I like human factions, don't get me wrong but they do tend to be more routine after awhile with multiple human factions in a person's LEGOverse.

Yes, I'm sure we weren't the only ones who saw the humanoid antagonists and allies as a breath of fresh air providing all kinds of new imaginative scenarios for our human factions.

Castle will never die. Sure, it has off periods sometimes but it will always be around in some way.

As to the whole fantasy and realism debate, you only need to look at Castle's history to see how it goes back and forth:

1984-92 - Lion Knights: Realistic
1984-92 - Black Falcons: Realistic
1988-93 - Black Knights: Realistic
1988-91 - Forestmen: Realistic
1992-94 - Wolfpack: Fantasy
1993-95 - Dragon Masters: Fantasy
1995-97 - Royal Knights: Realistic
1996-97 - Dark Forest: Realistic
1997-98 - Fright Knights: Fantasy
2000 - KK1: Realistic
2004-06 - KK2: Fantasy
2005-06 - Vikings: Realistic
2007-?? - Castle: Fantasy

In the eighties, realistic sets dominated the market. In the nineties, neither did very well. In the 21st century, fantasy is predominate. There's no set order; the focus just varies now and again. I don't really mind as long as the sets are good quality.

Shouldn't Vikings be Fantasy, because of the mythical creatures they fight.

Yes, I thought about that. They are sort of a blend of fantasy and realistic.

Bandit wrote:Castle Never Dies! (But it may come close) LEGO seems to be running dry of castle ideas. But I think that due to popular request, near 2011 or 2012, LEGO will release 675 Yellow Castle as a LEGO Legend. We can almost taste it in LEGO future, more Legends are a-comin! (I hope) So, in conclusion, let us pray for the best of LEGO :D and the downfall of rival Megabloks  !
I am positive that lego will keep a castle line. What is more lego than building huge structers out of bricks. plus they could take a different time period such as roman, carthaginians, greek, small bronze age and stone age civilasations. not to mention numerous other ideas

Well all the actual Viking figures were (more or less) accurate, and the creatures they fight were all 'real' in that the historical Vikings believed in them.

And besides, no-one's actually proved that dragons, etc. didn't exist ;)

Yeah, 4 1 thing, how did peepl cum up w/ dragons in th 1st place:?:
They wood hav had 2 hav basd them on sumthing thayv seen (before).:)

But anyway, I can't wait 4 elves! I also cant wait to be able to make The Hobbit with all this sweet stuff.:D
What could be the next fantasy theme:?:
As far as I can think of, they've used all the ideas without barrowing from other races.
For intance, orcs, trolls, they're virtually the same.
Men
Undead
Wizard
Dragon
Dwarf
Warrior Troll
Cave Troll((though) that may not b th akyurut term, sens cave trolls only dwell in caves and stay away from sunlite)
Elves
Witch
Can't think of any more. :(

Eor, this is barely understandable. You really need to work on this. I had to read it aloud in order to figure out what you meant.

If you want people to take you seriously, you need to write better.
