Yep, changes have been made to the ranking system. There are obviously a lot more ranks, going from Gong Farmer all the way up to Prince. The new system also allows for quicker changes at the lower end, with changes happening at 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 posts. From there the number of posts between changes increases. The system as it is now currently goes all the way up to 6,000 posts!
In an effort to discourage senseless posts just in order to increase rank, I have decided not to list all of the ranks and their post number. You'll just have to be surprised.

Thanks for the new system, it's nice to be something other than a Villien!

A ranking system is probably not the most important thing we need to worry about but it is kind of fun.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Thats cool...I guess. I really could care less about the title. I'm an "artisan" so what. Am I really an artisan? no!Troy wrote:Yep, changes have been made to the ranking system. I was having just as much fun without the system before. I post a lot anyway and will continue to post just as much, not more just so I can achive a superficial rank. Everyone is making a big deal about this. Much ado about nothing.

6.88 years. Not that he doesn't already have a title independent of the post ranking.Lord_Of_The_LEGO wrote:Troy wrote:The system as it is now currently goes all the way up to 6,000 posts!
Huh, Ben E. will be a Prince in no time.![]()

It will take even Barbapple 3.45 years to reach Prince at his current posting rate, so just enjoy each present when you open it, 'cause it'll be a lonnnnnnnnnng time before your become a princeling. Personally, I'm an Apprentice to a Sorceror - where's my broom?

It is a "special" rank after all.

Actually, Admins will retain their custom titles. So I will be the "Baron von Ellermann" for some timeHuh, Ben E. will be a Prince in no time.

Personally, I dont think members should get to nobility. This way we could easily distinguish from Admins and members. But then again, those 5000-6000 post rankings are a long way off. Plus, our titles are custom. There may be more barons, but not Baron von Ellermann's (sorry Jojo

Hmm, here's what I find:
0-10: Gong farmer
10-25: Serf
25-50: Villein
50-75: Peasant
75-100: Freeman
100-150: Laborer
150-200: Apprentice
200-250: Foot soldier
250-300: Artisan
300-?: Bailiff
Watch Wlister's title for future updates, as he seems to be the most prolific poster aside from those with set titles (i.e. Ben).
The above might all be off this way or that. E.g. the break between Laborer and Apprentice comes somewhere between Dan BL's 139 posts and JPinoy's 160. I'm only assuming that these are at the fifties and hundreds.
Interestingly, there are right now 25 people with >100 posts, another 11 between 50 and 100, 38 people between 10 and 50 posts, 82 people with 1 to 10 posts, and 59 members with 0 posts! Those of us with the fancy titles may generate a lot of noise, but I want to hear from you gong farmers and serfs. We all want to hear your thoughts on the new sets, see your MOCs, hear your story lines, etc. just as much as we want to hear the top 20 posters. Maybe more so in the case of Lenny.*

Seriously, let's hear some more from Lenny, and anyone else who was at Brickfest PDX this weekend. How'd it go? Was the walled town a success? Did my sig fig meet up with any hot babes like the forest wench or the blacksmith's wife? Just kidding again. Later.

Yes, I do tend to make a lot of posts. At least I try to make meaningful posts and I try to avaiod the one line reply posts. I find many of the subjects worthy of posting some kind of post to so the numbers do tend to add up.
My frequent posting may change a bit though, not due to the new titles, but the fact I really need to reorganize my collection so I can begin building again. Aside from a few things I have built for my children, I have yet to build even one castle MOC since this site started. This is a travesty and with all the ideas I have "stolen"
from so many of the great builders here, I am sure my first castle MOC in 8 months will be one I am proud of to show off.
I'll still be here, but I may be writing less. This might be a relief to some as I can get pretty long winded.
To the admins, thanks for the change, I was so very tired of being a villien.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

It took longer then 15 minutes, and it did not involve looking at the Memberlist.Devari wrote:I'm guessing it was pretty simple. All you need to do is set aside 15 minutes and go through most of the memberlist.

Ranks are fairly easy to set up with the forum software. The time was spent finding all the great suggestions in the forums, and then combining all the various lists into something reasonably coherent for the rankings.
They may not be 100% histroically accurate, but they are good enough for the purpose they are to be used for.
