I never really thougth about doing an actual army until the Bat, Ninja and Knights Kingdom figures became available to me. Thought my armies are not *huge* they are sizeable enough for most of my own needs. Now I have a bunch of KK2 and am looking forward to 2007 assortments to add in to my stock, but I have not mixed bley into my grey yet.

I agree with you. That's the way I am. I like to create unique individual characters with names and lives instead of a huge army of pointless, mindless soldiers! Occasionally, I'll make small armies to support these characters, but that's about. I don't have enough knights and soldiers to make big armies anyway so... I can't.

Army building does not have to mean BrickWar...
And you can make armies out of the KK2 stuff.

I tried that with my Legions of Doom (stupid budget cuts) and led the single worst campaign in my entire career. According to the numerous complaints I recieved, pants do wonders for morale. Something about 'fighting naked went out of fashion with the Greeks'. I need to get more compliant Legions of Doom.DNorton wrote:i only had one army and it worked out ok but the problems was that it was with the rouge knights, and they didnt have pants
[nondarklord]As for army building, my armies never exceed 30 each because of my unfortunate lack of income. Darn child labor laws. I have, however, struck a balance of individuality vs. size, because most of my soldiers are unique, some common factor (moral tendencies, armor color, facial hair, etc.) having divided them. What with the Viking Fortress, Longboat, Shortboat (mini longboat), Wolf, and Chess Set, I suppose you could say I'm army building with Vikings.... 40 or so is probably an okay army, eh?
...and that's how Equestria was made!

In my army, the bulk is made up by Men-at-Arms. They carry a hand weapon and a small round shield. And with the new skeletons being released, I can give my men some of those round skeleton shields. You know, scavenging stuff from the remains of the enemy. That would make them even more diverse than they are already..

Oh Yeah!!!!!
Back before my 'Dark Age' my 3 largest factions sat around 15 to 25. They were the Black Falcons, Crusaders, and the Forestmen.
Now since I am back into the full swing of things. I have about 60 Black Falcons, 30 Crusaders, 20 Forestmen, 20 Royal Knights, 30 or so Bulls/Fright Knights (I like the two factions together as one.), 15 KKI, 35 KKII, 15 Wolfpack, 25 Black Knight/Dragon Masters. I have around 35 Vikings as well.
My plan is to have about 100 Black Falcons and Crusaders, 50 Forestmen, 50 Black Knight/Dragon Masters, 100 Fright Knight/Bulls, and around 35 Royal Knights. With the Knights Kingdom guys I am a little hesitant to add more because I did not like jelly bean's visors (except the green chap) so it takes a while to replace them from ebay or bricklink. The KKI I might get the number of those fellows up to 25. The Viking set may increase, but that is a faction that I am actively seeking.
I do mix and match weapons/faces/styles of helms. I like each figure having a 'personality' if you will, but still have a good sized group to man the castles/fortifications and be on the campaign. Yeah it is expensive and it takes time, but as long as slowly aquire the pieces here and there I have the ultimate goal in site and I won't get tired of collecting lego.
On a side note I am trying to collect 50 or so of the red and blue imperial guards for my pirate stuff.
And while my lego factions may fight each other I do have a considerable amount of 'other' brand figures for my lego armies to fight! (hurray for store closeouts!
