Hey, it takes time to create big armies.

Unfortunately, when you have a job, trying to LOOK for a new (higher paying one), and go out with friends/family...

It'll take time away from building anything.

Even when Im done assembling minifigs, I still need time and maybe some help to set up a shot.

Unless you want me to post pics of them in large 1 gallon bags and in their plastic bins?

...actually

I'm not trying to sound silly, but It would honestly be really impressive and interesting to see a bag full of minifigs.

So, could you one day plz take a sec to photograph that!

(sometimes before-photos really help you understand and appreciate the after shots :!: )

Take care,

Y'know, I just love when people show their set-up or storage photos... like this one:

...photos like this always make you appreciate the work that goes into creating set-ups like this one:

Well, she may not have the biggest, but having seen your picture - she is hands down cuter than you are man

Her collection is impressive none-the-less, with the added bonus that 'she' is a 'she' - I will always go out of my way to give a nod to a female builder/collector.

Me, I am still working on my minifig collection. It is coming along, but not quite to that 7,000 mark  :!: Maybe half that for 'castle' armies with another 250 for my kid's armies and 600 (now expanded) or so for my hyper-corp genre.

I will bow my head humbly to the army master (for now :D )

There is a four page discussion on this now? Hmmm, next time I take pictures of a creation, I'm taking off my shirt.
It seems a whole new area of MoCing is opening up

I agree...stunning looks and Lego, she would be my dream girlfriend :)

LOL, mine is not even at the 100 mark. It's growing slowly though...of course like JPinoy said these things take time; from what I've seen most of the huge collections are owned by people who are in their twenties or older; they've had more time to collect figs.

Something interesting I noticed was that our sigfig picture was in one of her folders.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2859087

It is not the picture that was linked (look at the bottom left of the two pics and you will notice a difference), but it does have the background in focus and the figs on top do not have the fill flash on them.

Wasn't Oxford sued for being an obvious Lego clone? Look at that set. It looks like an unholy union of KK1, Ninja, and Best-Lock.

General army building question: Where do most of you get your figs? I assume its partly from buying sets, but do you buy individual parts on bricklink? Whole figs on bricklink/ebay? From sets, at least recent ones, I figure each fig will run you about $2-$3 not counting the other parts in a set. Those of you who've got thousands of individual figs, is that about how much you've paid for each? I know it isn't cheap, but even so, yikes!

Aspiring army builder here, so far I've got 50 or so various '07 castle figs, with the number ever increasing.

IMHO There arnt enough generic soldiers to classify a fully blown army, looks more like a collection of lots of small armies from different factions.
looks inspiring as always though :D

About $2-3usd each is about right on average.

Because I am using armour for most of my figs I use whatever torso matches the colour I want to use - fireman, policeman, and HP torsos were cheap and I bought thousands of them. Then I stocked up on the black euro armour to cover them, match them with legs, heads, helms, and weapons and away you go.

Time and money are all it takes to create massive armies - so be patient and pick up the deals when you see them. For example, I just picked up about a 100 of the '07 knights paying about $2 each (most of which were these ones):

I will buy some of the smaller sets for the figs, but mostly I just buy the figs I want off of BL and rarely now eBay. I buy the sets for the sets and or the parts.

Happy army building.

Like what Lee said, I order parts at small prices (a habit I have from my dad, who buys computer parts at good deals and then builds very-good-class un-expensive computers) and build armies from there, but time and money... More money than time though. Espcially when you see a deal and are a little short on cash. (Brick arms/brick forge weapons are my problem, a $1 apiece and yet I can 20 men for $18.95 w/out weapons) But the hardest part (for me anyway) is finding the kind of infantry you like, I was going to do a clone-tropper based force when I realized it would cost me $50 to get enough to make a score (20 for those not fimilar with old tongue) while for the same price I could get 40 (less cool though) men, and I didn't because:: Lee's a genius/rich  , and I'm not... :?

Ah, that makes sense. So... 30 cents a pop for legs? Tempted to buy over 400 of them. Figure that'd obligate me to get started.... 8)

Edit: Still haven't bought anything, but been comparing prices and such for a while now. This is fun :D

Yah... very nicely put indeed!

I do something similar.

I also use other Lego sets for their torso's and legs... Harry Pottter offers the perfect gray, and they had lots of smaller sets on sale, and when Star Wars first came out the smaller sets were on huge discount at my local Wal Mart and Toy 'R' Us around my area.

And with these troops all ready, rank and file, i then used the Castle accessary packs i've collected over the years to equip them! So i think that's the most efficient and cost-effective way of creating a great big army!

Also, I don't use brickLink or e-bay, but garage sales are often a great source... you just have to wash the pieces that you buy before you include them in your collection ...lol
