I paid $1.99 USD for both series 1 and 2 at TRU (in different parts of the country). Where did you buy yours for $2.49?

There's a purchase limit on the figs? I bought rather a lot of them today, and there didn't seem to be any issues with that; also, a friend of mine who works at TRU told me there was no limit on them (I asked specifically).

Local descretion or policy, I suppose.

I have a question though. Series 1 sold for 2.49/ea. but now series 2 is selling for 1.99/ea. I am wondering what prices everyone else is paying?
I would also say it's a locally applied decision to add a limit but as mentioned I did ask before I added my haul to the basket (well too much of it).

The assistant manager (it was on the name badge) that randomly popped by is the one I asked and he made a comment about the 'Cheat Sheet'. One of the folks I helped while I was there said he made stop motion LEGO movies, I kinda pointed these out as being unique figures and that he should take a look (he decided on trying for 3 different ones). Another was a guy and his maybe 5 or 6 year old son, they knew of the fig's and said thanks for use of the sheet before they left with a few different figures they wanted.

This hobby is about fun, having someone empty out a location selling these is not fun for later folks, I'm not saying anyone going in and cleaning out what they can get is wrong, I just see spreading the wealth (or minifigures) to more people allows for MORE folks to have thier Fun. Which is why I share my printout, and are likely to leave extra when I go again. Does it increase the odd of someone getting some of what I want? Sure, but I have my set as well as a few duplicates, I can go on even if I get zero more from this series.
Build? I merely Acquire atm.

I agree that this is about having fun, and spreading the fun is a good thing. I feel that I must point out, though, that not all those of us who bought large amounts of the figures are scalpers or hoarders. Personally, I plan to be trading my extras away to friends who haven't had a chance to get series 2 figs (due perhaps to people at their own stores buying them out--circular, but unavoidable). I simply prefer to share the wealth with people I know, rather than strangers (not that I don't like sharing with strangers too, but when the supply is limited, my friends come first).

(also, please note: I know that your comments were not directly solely, or perhaps even mainly, at me, and I'm not attempting to be defensive here; I just felt it necessary to clarify my own position, given that the context of the conversation was in response to my post saying that I'd bought quite a few.)

I shall echo CM's comments here. Yes I bought 2 cases...off bricklink, but this was a combo order for more than just me. No these figs won't be sold to others, they are for our collections.

And yes I do agree that I think we all need to realize that not a lot of kids are actually getting their hands on these figs...which as an Aunt who tries to make sure her nephews get part of the fun...they have YET to find either series at any store. (Yes I have made sure that they do get some unopened figs), but I think it needs to be said that kids also collect and want these figs. So I do thank you for your comment, because I am glad I am not the only one feeling like we aren't really sharing in the fun.

And I think that's quite unfortunate. I hope that the future series of these figs will be widely available. If they were available like normal sets, I think that would be way more fun for everyone. We'd get lots of awesome accessories and figs freely available, and kids could have fun finding and collecting all of them.

On a tangential note, I do think it was a wise move on Lego's part, though, to give us a way to figure out which figs are which without opening them. There are the seedier folks out there who wouldn't think twice about ripping open dozens of packs and just taking the ones they want. I know this was a horrible problem with Hot Wheels collectors when they released "mystery" packages. It's rare that I see one of those "mystery" packages in a store that hasn't been opened and left. And I seem to recall this happening with some Star Wars sets which were (mistakenly) purported to contain gold minifigs.

That's odd. Perhaps the pricing structure is done by regional managers?

You are not kidding, the look on my girls faces when they opened the witch was priceless. They like the singer too. I just hope Lego HQ is reading this thread.

I agree. One of the forumites said that in Canada Wal Marts the floor was littered with open and unopen fig packages.

Got my fix at the local TRU. Found 3 packs out of the bunch already open and got them 20% off!

You are correct, my comments were not directed at you or likely ANYONE on the boards here, it certainly was not KNOWINGLY pointed at anyone here.
Honestly my point was that there are many which do not enjoy the the community of this or other boards as far as I know, they see LEGO as a way to profit and purely or mostly so. I was aiming my comments as a rant towards those that are purely trying to make profit.
Cm2, you just had a convenient post to reply to.

As it is I saw today I'll need to try and get another surfer if I can and was asked to get some Pharaohs if possible (nephew and sister in law respectably).

As it is, if I see more now, certain ones will again be assimilated into the collection(or set aside for related folks).

Series 3 is likely to be a Brickstorm of ugliness (yes in a bad way) once folks figure out they have no way of 'cheating' the system and I suspect we will see many, many reports of opened and mangled set/packaging once it comes out. I was not real happy when I heard the ID barcodes were going away on series 3 and beyond.

I've always thought Finland is the worst place in the world when it comes to the retail of Lego, we don't have a PAB wall or Lego sales...
But when it comes to Collectable minifigures it is PARADISE!!
No one seems to be really interested in them... They've been available for ower 2 weeks and the store is still packed with them!!
And hear this out: Series 1 is still available here in the stores!!
I have bought about 25pcs, 9 of them spartans:)
Got 7 minifigs today, took me a few minutes to find the ones I wanted.. It seems it's only kids randomly buying one or two random figs in my local store...
So if there is someone who is in great need of collectable minifigures i think you should pm someone u trust from scandinavia and place an order... But the shipping might be quite expencive... unfortionately...
I'm sorry that the availability is so different here compared to the US...

:twitch: I've yet to see any Series 2 figs, and I only saw Series 1 once in person!

Better keep searching. :(

I just got myself a bunch of them. I managed to get 12 different ones, with doubles of the Karate Master and the Mexican Musician. There ARE certain types I look to get multiples of which and use them for my LEGO armies. Sorry, kiddies, but you'll just mess up and loose these valuable parts. Give them to me and I will put them in a good home in the Armies of ORIGIN! :D :P

Re: Collectable Minifigures Series Two

I visited the the Lego Store yesterday (Aug. 23rd) to use the Lego Store Calender deal of getting sets 5899 and 5899 on sale for 50% off. As we approached the mall at around 11:30 (My brother had to stop for Starbucks!) I walked over (ok, so maybe I ran) to get the sets. My brother and I were planning on buying 10 of them. But when I was grabbing the sets, I realized the Collectible Minifigures Series Two were at the store! Tons of 'um!

I brought over the sets to the collectible minifigure area and then went to make a "Build a Minifigure 3-Pack" because I had a coupon in the same Lego Store Calendar for 50% one with a $50 purchase (I made a train conductor person that shovels coal, a flight attendant, and a doctor with a hatchet).
We were caught at a bad time though. Tons of bags, no barcode detector, and a 5 minifigure limit! We ended up coming out of the store with 9 sets (All 50% off), 7955 Wizard (for a friend), "Build a Minifigure 3-Pack" (50% + $5 V.I.P. pts.), Shave a Sheep/Wild wool (For a B-day present), Magikus, and the following:

3x Witch
2x Lifeguard
2x Traffic Cop
1x Karate Master Guy
1x Weightlifter
1x Spartan (The face on him is the best part)

What, can I say? Lego is too addicting...

Anyway, we've been talking with a Lego Store employee several times now, Yellowbrick, and when my brother talked to him this time he said he'd be willing to trade collectible minifigures with us. So after we opened everything, I traded him a Lifeguard and an extra karate trophy for the Robin Hood! And my brother traded him an extra witch for a Caveman! Finally, a successful collectible minifigure run! (Plus, we went by the Discovery Center and got the dwarf and troll battle pack + 3 vintage minfigs)

That's right folks! They're in Lego Stores! I suggest you snag some.
