I started out with a basic CC provided avatar, but soon evolved to the higher species of life
Me too.

My first avatar, a desk.
I like your desk avatar more than the others. Only you could make it slightly less inclined, otherwise the inkbottle would slide off. And also, what's that transparent glass supposed to represent?
A drink of some sort. Also, here's my better desk:

And a horse-master:

My avatar is a picture by Mac Harshberger titled "Tristan Slays the Beast" from Tristan and Iseult, 1927.

I'm big into mythology, and Arthurian legends hold a special place for me. A "Tristram" logon name and avatar seems appropriate on a Classic Castle forum!

And the story of Tristan, or Tristram, can be found in a number of books, notably, "Le Morte D'Arthur" by Sir Thomas Malory, or "The Romance of Tristan and Iseult" as retold by Joseph Bedier.

Hey,

My site, Brick Tales is about telling stories in LEGO form. The host of my site is the storyteller, the keeper of the Brick Tales library. I used to use him as my avatar: Image. When I become an admin I needed an official title, and I figured that my medieval job would be as the precentor of the scriptorium, which was pretty much the keeper of the library translated into medieval terms (it was that or wandering bard, if you picture me as a story-teller). So my avatar is basically my previous libarian avatar translated into the appropriate medieval dress as a monk's robes.

I have, btw, altered him to make a Christmas version: Image. I should make other versions some time for other holidays.

Funnily, I don't look a thing like my avatar. It was just the face that looked most like a cross between a librarian and a Mr. Rogers-style storyteller. Incidentally, I also use that face as a professor, which is my day job. So I actually self-identify with that fig a lot.

I really do think I must have the highest post-to-avatar ratio on this site. Almost all of my avatars have centered around my "Earl Of Wells" fig, or my "generic sigfig" (anything with a HP head and brown hair).

My very, very, very, very first avatar was the tri Forestman shield. This was followed by my first castle sigfig:

Then Earl of Wells was created:

I stuck with this avatar for the longest of times, then I started to do variations:

Then there are the ones where my sigfig tries on different costumes:

Then there are "Holiday Avatars":

And lastly there are the "Misc" avatars, usually highlight a MOC:

Whew, that took a while...now I'm off to change my avatar again...

All that careful staging of beer barrels, weapons, and drunken choruses got cropped out so that you could still see the character's faces. Ah well, The Two-Tonic Tippler finally has his proper colors of sable and vert, as was intended all along. Yes, the Little Armory Aid pack finally arrived, so the Signature Avatars got updated.

I'll probablly reshoot when I have better light (poor Redwine had to be clone stamped to restore his features which got washed out by the sun in his face).

TTK, I miss your old signature, but this one will probably grow on me soon enough.(After poor ol' Redwine has his picture retaken) I think I actually prefer Two-Tonic's new attire to the first one.

Changed mine to a picture of a squirrel my brother took in are backyard feeder. The face has not been photoshop it's the actual face. My brother added a brick in the image with photoshop.
Useless Info: We have squirrels vs. chipmunks battles in my backyard. Sometimes we have Gandalf the Grey(large grey squirrel) visit and scare away the red squirrels and chipmunks.
