Oh. I forgot something. The "wheeled horse" is very fantastic.

Yes they could had made something appealing for kids and old fans. Next time maybe...

The wheeled horse was made that way so that the knights can be launched against each other.

Anyhow, aren't those rectangular type shields carried by Roman Legionaires, Celtic warriors, Khmer Empire soldiers and Chinese infantrymen? Not what I'd call fantasy......

Isn't Asterix the popular French comic? I'm taking French II, and we've seen some of that, and I even read some of one when I was in introductory French two years ago.

On topic: I agree, if the structures were better, it would be good.

Some coored armor was around, but just for tournaments.

Since Lord of the Rings is written to be as much historical fiction as fantasy, Peter Jackson integrated a lot of armor and sword designs for the films that were actually used, though in a slightly anachronistic manner(one country had a mott-and-bailey style wooden castle and leather, mail, or scale hauberks, while another boasted a huge white stone castle fortress and plate armor), so LEGO has produced most necessary parts for Lord of the Rings already.

JP a question for you, since you're up on ancient armies and such. What would a typical catiphract<sp> carry into battle? I'm thinking lance, bow, quiver, and chainmail print to be accurate?

(was thinking of making a byzantine inspired theme so....)

I didn't say square shields were fantasy, I said they would, with these designs, be good for fantasy. And anyway, from what I've seen, it would be a fantasy to put square shields with western knights from 1100 on, and that would include these late-period fully armored w/armet helmets from about 1400-something through 1500-something.

BUT for those doing Roman and other various square-shielder throughout history and in their imagination, these are indeed a grand development.

I'd imagine that Lego knows that these don't quite mesh with the other aspects of these knights, and that implies that perhaps they are setting themselves up for a future Roman/Gladiator line.

Not really here in Quebec. I think it used to be though. TV, comic books. Somehow it seems comic books are becoming more legendary than popular around here.

No, Asterix had a great success here in Quebec. Many people around me rode almost all the comics book and listen to the comics films.

Asterix is very interesting because it please child and adult at the same time

. The author is Belgian. Don't miss it !

The flyer for the Knight's Kingdom sets says that they will be available this summer. I would assume this means May or June. HP is probably the same.

Welcome to Classic castle.

"The Flyer" was an advertising page that came with some of the large knights that have also been named Knights Kindom. The new sets with the advertising page were. 8770, 8771, 8772, 8773, 8774. The new series says it is due out in July. The picture of this set has the proposed date on it. 8781 on Brickset.

Yes. Of course, you can also arm them with an Axe and or Sword. Cavalry soldiers tend to carry various weapons into battle. Lances were used primarily for the shock cavalry charge. After it gets stuck in some enemy's/enemies' body, time to pull out that long sword or axe and start hacking. Also, you might want to put barding as well as a battle helmet on the cataphract's steed.

I have 2 methods of placing the quivers on cavalry. On the rider's back or on either side or both sides of the rider's saddle.

Just uploaded 4 pics showing examples of ancient Chinese and Khazak cavalrymen.
