Murder at the Judgment Seat--a BoM vignette
I'm particularly proud of the judgment seat itself:
Enjoy!

Very nice. I like the architecture, and of course, the seat!
I'm just curious. I am not particularly familiar with the BoM in its entirety, where is this seat supposed to have been (ie context/ethnae)

The Book of Mormon. I've been working on illustrating the thing for... wow, it's already been over a year! I'll be finishing soon, though.Blue Head wrote:where is that quote from?
Throughout much of their history, the Nephites were ruled by judges, rather than kings. So the judgment seat would have been the equivalent of a throne, basically.I'm just curious. I'm not that good at explaining things, so I'm hoping that's the answer you were looking for. If not, I'd be happy to chat via PM.
Thanks for the kind words!

I think you were asking about the historical or ethnic context, right? I share your lack of familiarity with the BoM, but according to what I do know, the BoM describes the Nephites as a culture of peoples in the Americas who originated partially from a lost tribe of Israel who came across the Atlantic. (IIRC, Jesus is described as visiting the Nephites after his resurrection.) Thus the Meso-American look and feel to this MOC, I believe.wunztwice wrote:I'm just curious. Nathan, I do like the Judgement Seat, and your construction of the steps and arch are also interesting.

I really like that arch construction. The alternating blocks and colums looks suprisingly good. Also those green round bricks at the top add a nice touch of color and variation to the wall.

Very cool, I echo what has been said- the construction of the columns is great, as is that of the arches. Still not sure what it's from, though... Anyway, good job.
...and that's how Equestria was made!
