Einstein vs. Einstein

Years ago, I built a "young Einstein" minifig because I didn't have the sort of white hair or mustache face I thought he needed. With an Ice Planet minifig from BrickFest and a recent order of non-production parts from Germany, I finally had what I needed for an older version of Time Magazine's "Person of the Century."

I amused myself by having young Einstein and old Einstein argue with each other about time travel:

Young Einstein is dressed for work at the Swiss patent office. Old Einstein is dressed not as you'll see him in publicity photos, but as my wife's grandfather always described him: Grandpa was studying at Westminster Choir College when Einstein taught at Princeton in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Einstein apparently wandered the neighborhoods of Princeton, New Jersey wearing a ratty old sweatshirt, hair standing on end, talking to himself. :D

Click either picture to see more pictures on Flickr, with semi-relevant Einstein quotes for each.

Great stuff, I guess that's the closest possible hair piece. The blackboard is a great touch, it really makes the fig work ;)

Neat! All old Einstein need now is a piece of chalk to chuck at young Einstein for arguing with him. :D

Einstien was brilliant even in his youth. In 1905 he came up with the theory of realativity.

Hate to stray off topic, but alot (if not most) of the credit for Einstein's genius is owed to his wife, Mileva Maric Einstein. Due to ther misoginistic nature of our Western culture, everything was submitted & published in his name.

So my point is (keeping this LEGO related) we need a Mileva Maric minifig, Andrew!

:)

An excellent point! When I made Charles Babbage, I made sure to make Ada Lovelace as well. Gotta do the same for the Einsteins. :D

Haha, that's neat to show a younger and older version of Einstein! I guess that the younger version traveled at the speed of light and came back to meet his older self.

I don't recall that being proven... I thought it was still a theory.
Anyway, nice, but I think thw wild side of the two face hair hacked together with another one would work better. Oh yeah... Purist, right.
Nice job. I like the stand for the blackboard, too.

Nice work!

Those pieces were just made for Einstein, I guess!

If only Lego produced a minifig with a tongue sticking out...

All except for the white hair, that wasn't really made for anything, it just wound up here.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

I also got some "regular" white hair recently, so I'll have to see what old dudes I can make with those. :D
