So my 2nd entry is finished!

Its May Day. For the celebrations category.

Here you can see a part of a May Day festival. Ofcourse there is the well known pole with strings. People are dancing around it and a beatifull pattern on the pole will be there at the end of the dance. For a dance you need music, so there's a very good band performing on a stage. There are also lots of other medieval games to play. You can throw balls at some pions. You can try to hit the sausage sliding down a slope. (a well known dutch medieval game, not sure if its international well known)
And this all is viewed from a balcony by a lady of noble birth....

Comments are welcome, and i hope you all like it..!

hehe cool I like all the kids running around the maypole.
And altogether I can't say it looks other than festive :) good job in capturing that party spirit.

this was my first contest idea

but i've been putting it off and putting it off, cause the maypole strings were/are going to be hard using just lego pieces. you got around this with the yarn, but i didn't want to risk the possiblity the rules my be strict myself. wonderful details all around, though

It captures the event perfectly. The only advice I can give you is to try and add more landscaping. More of a variety of green plates (Lots of smalls look the best) would give the scene a look of realism, instead of just having a flat grassy floor. Good luck in the contest!

I think the ground needs to be a bit more uneven. I like the band too. I'm wondering what the guy is doing with the sausage though?

Thank you for the replies everybody.

Yes i thought about adding a bit more landscaping (small height differences)..but i thought i wouldnt add much here in this particular mod. I thought i would just get in the way of the fig placement and other stuff. I also figured it is believable to have a flatt grasy area, specifically chosen for a festival....

But now i am doubting again...but is it still ok with you guys (and the rules) to change my mod, now that i made it public...? i dunno... :)

Very nice creation. Once again, your choice of figs is excellent and really makes this creation come alive.

This was something I was thinking about doing. I like how you have the barrels under the stage and the variety of instruments is nice. Wasn't this festival originated in Germany? I know its popular in the Caribbean.

Great stuff :D The sausage wacking (is that allowed :o) is my fav part by far, but a close second are the musicians & how you have done their instruments. If you haven't offically submitted your creation I don't see you having a problem with making revisions before the deadline :) (not that I am an admin or anything)
