Dwarves Mine: gone?

Post by The Phantom »

On S@H the DM is "sold out" (US, along with tic-tac-toe). My local Target was sold out also. Does this mean it's gone for good? I didn't get any & was planing on getting multiples.

The Target website is still selling the Dwarves Mine:

Link

I doubt they're gone already since they were just released a few months ago. I would wait for S@H to get more in stock or I'd just order from the Target website.

Annoyingly long link condensed by Mod

Its not sold out.

I think you misread the message on the site
"This item is available online, but is not available in stores."

Or the Target website tracks IP addresses and links to regional hubs, or the website switched to a different warehouse to ping for inventory data for that particular item. Or they simply added additional inventory in the last moments. Many possibilities.

I think speaknspell (a Lego rep) said the limited release was only a limited pre-release to Target and the set would be available as part of the full '08 line.

Yeah, I just saw that thread.

Unfortunatly, when you have five other people in your family, you have to spend a lot of money on Christmas gifts ($60/person, ouch). I think I'll wait to get some of these until I can aford to get more than two at a time so shiping dosen't kill my wallet.

Isn't it a Target Exclusive and shouldn't that mean it is somewhat limited supply. Also add in the fact that it is the awesomest set ever, couldn't it have just sold out real fast.

I think we are used to exclusives that were good but not amazing, that sold slowly and lasted longer. Like, Skeleton Attack Ship, Battle at the Pass, and some Star wars stuff, all good sets but the overall consensus was the DM is incredible and most of Us went out and bought a bunch.

I do not recall a set ever having such a huge following so fast. All the reviews were very positive. Plus it is Christmas so Moms probably bought them for their kiddies too.

Maybe they are just out of stock for a few days.

sadly the Dwarf's mine didn't recieve the sales that the Hoth playset did which sold fast, sold well and still commands a high price even on the Bay or BL.

Comparing any core system set to Star Wars sets is like comparing apples and oranges. Star Wars sets will always have a larger fan base to purchase them.

Comparing the mine to an exclusive City set like the 7905 Building Crane is a better example. In that case the set did take longer to sell out, but eventually did. Later LEGO made a second run at a higher price which is available only at Shop at Home.

My sources tell me that the Mine will be available at multiple retail outlets in the USA next year. However, yours do not. We will just have to wait and see.
