Arn: The Crucader
Arn: The Crucader
A couple of days ago, a new movie called Arn Tempelredarren (Arn The Crucarder) was released here in scandinavia, its based on a swedish book about some swedish families based in the 12th century. Its a lot of cool action in it but its mostly in swedish, some parts are in english too but i do not know wether it will be released in america.

Re: Arn: The Crucader
Actually I believe it takes place during the Third Crusade (late 12th century) since Salah ad-Din is in it, right? I actually had a free ticket to the premiere of this one but I forgot to go Shows how excited I was I guess.... It has gotten quite good reviews though so I might go and see it. Anyhow it would be cool if a Swedish movie succeeded outside Sweden, even though I find it unlikely.erikut wrote:A couple of days ago, a new movie called Arn Tempelredarren (Arn The Crucarder) was released here in scandinavia, its based on a swedish book about some swedish families based in the 14th century. And this movie features some of the best researched and re-created swords to appear on film: http://www.arn-swords.com/en/index.html

yesterday i re-discovered my stash of crusader decals, and decided to go on a recruitment spree, and in the process went nutty about the crusades, downloaded the demo for knight of the temple infernal crusade (which is great) rented the kingdom of heaven, and bought a game called crusades of the history channel, and now this has come out. good timing! I wanna see it! might have to buy a ticket to Sweden and come and annoy you all!
If you are reading this it means I have posted! - congratulate your find and remember this day

Re: Arn: The Crucader
its on netflix btw but did any one else notice that the main familys shields are the same as the fantasy era shields
Re:
Nice work. Did you rent the extended version of the movie? I didn't mind the original but the longer version I feel tells a better story. Might have to look into this demo. There's a sequel available too. Both aren't exactly recent games which means they might run on my PClord azreal wrote:yesterday i re-discovered my stash of crusader decals, and decided to go on a recruitment spree, and in the process went nutty about the crusades, downloaded the demo for knight of the temple infernal crusade (which is great) rented the kingdom of heaven, and bought a game called crusades of the history channel, and now this has come out. good timing! Would be nice if it's released with English subtitles at least. It would be great to see more period movies that don't come from Hollywood.

I doubt Lord Azreal is going to see this. He wrote this thread in 2007 and hasn't logged in since Feb 2010.

Re: Arn: The Crucader
The books are really good!
It you like building Castle Lego you will love it. A lot of the stuff in the books is about Arn using his knowledege from being a munk and a templar to build up and improve life and battle in sweden with "modern" techiques that he learned from the rest of europe. Especially the third book that is about when he returns home to Sweden after having been many years in the holy land and uses his military tactics and engineering ideas to build up strongholds, raise up a cavalry and so on. Very interesting. Gave lots of ideas to make MOCs.
