Troll battle wheel review.

So, I just bought the troll battle wheel last night (because I absolutely must have at least one of every single fantasy era set) and thus, built it of course. for being such a small army building thing (meaning its not a key lego set such as the castle seige, or the skeleton tower) it was a bigger hastle to build than it was any other lego set. all of the other sets were really fun to build and I had a great time with them. but the battle wheel just hurt my hands and made me wanna stop building it.

Troll battle wheel: 4/10 for me.

Hey welcome. I actually liked building the troll battle wheel. I really thought I would hate the set, but I've already rigged it so that trolls push the battle wheel from behind. Add a larger turret in front and it makes a decent set.

I just didnt like the building of the wheels, the part in which you had to roll the wheels up made me angry, because I kept having to take them apart after the (dont know what there called but there like the technic pieces) pieves kept pushing up the 6x2 plates thus messing up the wheel.
the wheel also doesn roll very well I noticed unless its on the carpet.

I was thinking of making some similar mods (after I buy it of course). Got any pics that you could share?

I love this new set, though I never got the chance to write a review up for it here. The only downside to the set is that I feel the rear *handle* part of the wheel should not be dragged, but should be rolling or carried/pushed by the larger trolls. Other than that, the minifigures should have more shields and weapons (archers!) and the Skelleton breastplate armor is not suited for the troll helm (so I gave it to another Skelleton warrior).

I agree with the part about ending more weapons, I also believe the back handle is too long. the more weapons the better, right?

Right!

I am somewhat frustrated they could not even put a sword in the dwarf's hands for the mine defender or even a knife or something. What is he supposed to done once the orcs are to close to loose the catapult on? Bit them?

Seems to be fairly common in this release but at least we have dwarves and orcs now!

True, the dwarves and orcs were a good idea to make, but why cant they make their legs move? >.> I just wish theyd give them weapons and make some improvements.

No... not right now, sorry. I would share them if I still had them... but I couldn't resist using the new "brown" colors to line the floor of my new castle. That's a project that will take a few more battlewheels or a quick stop at Bricklink.

Actually... this set might work well with the siege tower coming out later in August. I would like to work out a bigger model of that combining the two. That, I think, would be sweet.

I was officially told the same thing by my wife this AM in regard to a LARGE order placed (by me) on my birthday last week. She was willing to let that one slide, but I'll not likely be able to do the same thing... until after Easter.

Just got this set yesterday at the local Lego Store (and subsequently filled my loyalty card thus earning me a $20 gift card). I think I would have liked this set considerably more if I had paid $30 rather than the steep $40. The figures are great and I like the spear blockade of the Crown Knights but the Orc battlewheel really isn't all that great. I suppose my biggest issue is the mean of propulsion. The idea of the orcs running along each wheel causing the wheel is a neat concept the actual product isn't nearly so marvel, the orcs end up hovering a good 1-2 bricks above the wheel and if you try to lower them they end up blocking the wheel movement.

Also the rocket on the battlewheel makes no sense. I suppose it fulfills the requirement of every set having a firing object but I would rather have seen LEGO use those parts for the gun and trigger handle for horses or another means of powering the wheel.

All-in-all, the wrost set I've bought in awhile. I don't regret buying because again the 3 Orc are a nice addition to my minifig, having said that there isn't much use for this set...

4/10.

Loyalty card? Never heard of this. I have spent a ton of cash this year on legos direct and they never told me anything about it..... I feel so cheated, except I still got my orders so not so much.

Nice to hear it is availible now.

I have been really good since early January and not bought any legos, no matter how they tempted me with releasing the new castle 2008 sets at oen time in February here in the UK.... I was strong. My wife has been pretty good about letting me buy stuff but I am trying to discipline myself as some home repairs are needed more than my knights home repairs- hey he lives indoors no problem.
