Is anyone else not exactly happy about the new star wars sets. Link
I like the design of the sets but I hate the new Jedi. They look like freaks. I mean fleshies were bad enough but now this. I also don't like the lack of clone troopers in the new sets. There is only 2 in the Gunship and it is $100. The line is not totally bad the new clones look cool there just isn't enough of them.

I have not purchased a Lego Star Wars set since about 2000 or 2001, and have not been keeping up with the new releases. That being said, haven't some of these vehicles and ships been released in the past? Are they just "improving" the designs and re-releasing them?

Yeah the jedi are creepy, they look too cartoonish to fit in with other minifigs. The piece selection of the sets isn't too good either. They only thing good that I can see is that it looks like LEGO's contract with LucasFilm is going to expire which means no more Star Wars sets. Yes I am an absolute fan of Star Wars, but there comes a time when 5 different versions of an AT-ST becomes a bit much. After the last movie was released I thought LEGO would run out of ideas for sets but they seem to have caught onto the Clone Wars series. I hope this don't sell too well as it will mean a new big theme can come or several small themes because Star Wars has always been a very big theme.

Many of these sets are based on the Clone Wars cartoon series, thus the cartoony look of the figs.

Normally, I'm all for a cartoony look. And I love the look of the Clone Wars cartoon stuff.
But
I'm not really digging these new minifigs. I'm glad to see my man Plo Koon... but... overall I think I'll pass.
I'm kind of wishing Lego focused more on thier Harry Potter stuff rather than all the Star Wars.
(Having said that, I do really like the troop builder sets.)

Two things: I believe the Gunship is listed in the Toy Fair pictures I saw as $120 USD. The other is that if you look at the success and flavors of the Battlepacks, this set was a chance to produce a larger number of individuals in a more grand play-set; I believe that there WILL be a Clone or Clone Wars Battlepack in as early as 2009. You know the AOTC Gunship and AT-TE had more Clones, but the price tags made it nearly impossible to army build them while I was absolutely swimming in Yoda and Dooku figures. I prefer my troops in troop-builder friendly smaller sets, and my characters in the bigger numbers.

On an aside, I agree that the eyes of the new Clone Wars minifigures are way off, much like the Native American faces from the Wild West line and it may seriously limit their use for many of us, but the heads are mostly replacable. Due to LEGO getting individual faces on the Clones under the helmets, the new Clone Trooper helms are going to stick out like sore thumbs if you have already built an army of Clones. But at least we will get fleshy Jango heads (for whatever it's worth).

Esentially this chapter of Star Wars is a totally different story and the change in the media from Live to Toon reflects that. LEGO is using this as the basis for the toy line also. Separate universe I suppose.

When Star Wars went fleashie, that's when I stopped buying new stuff. Now I just by the old stuff from Bricklink. Luckily there is the 2007-2008 Castle line to drool over and spend money on.

I have only gotten 3 Star Wars sets in my career, and well, I wont be buying another one. The third was just for one piece really. The second was a big gray tank with rather large wheels, and the first was a battle between two knights.
