Oooo, shiny!

The sturdy Dühnlist series of automatons was designed to take on many diverse tasks throughout the growing Empire. Due to its versatility and ability to handle extreme conditions well beyond a human’s tolerance level, it was not uncommon to find a team of several Dühnlisten entrusted as a village's firefighting “flameward” brigade. Relatively simple upgrades including a heavy storage tank strapped to its back, cast-iron water cannons in place of limbs, and the installation of a simple pumping system could turn just one of these brass machines into a life-saving hero.

Really awesome. So far i loved all your steampunk models. And this ome is patricularly shiny. What kind of paint do you use?

This guy is actually kinda cute. In a good way. Though I think the brass paint is a tad overdone here...

Yep, I've gotten several "you've gone too far" replies and I was half-expecting that. This is going to be my last MOC for a while (have to put LEGO back into storage for space reasons) and I just couldn't leave this phase without trying a full-on painted model. It's got me thinking though, and I'm curious what people's reactions would be if all the gold/brass parts were actually official LEGO elements instead of painted.

And I'm glad he comes across as cute! He's for Fine Clonier's automaton contest and the size restrictions were that an entry could be no bigger than 3.5" in any direction, so it was an interesting challenge to keep him restricted to that box while still looking like he'd belong in the Reich universe. (I actually got a really strong Black Mage vibe from him as I was building because of the "head" piece and body proportions, too– completely unintentional.)

And the paint is Krylon's mettalic gold spraypaint, erikut.

Very nice work on all of these golden steampunks MOCs, Morgan19! I love the custom gold pieces, and even that amount of custom parts doesn't ruin the MOC... Well, I guess since that is basically all the MOC is, it kinda makes up the awesome-ness (...) of it...
