have you ever...

Post by boses »

I was wondering if any of you have ever built something, a moc or castle or such, with every or almost every one of your pieces? If you ever did, what did you build? I remember being asked if I could do something like that, but I never realy tried it...I realize that many forum members have a really big collection, so the idea of using all of your parts may seem ridiculous, so say have you ever built something out of 5k parts or more?

To answer your first question, I don't think I could build an actually coherent MOC out of all my parts but man would I love to try! I have stuff from too many different themes, space, technic, town (a lot), castle (a lot), pirates, you name it, even fabuland, paradisa and belville (hey you're a fan or you're not ;))

I think that building something with all my parts would have to be something futuristic so I can implement the space and technic parts, maybe involving a big castle ruin, a pirate airship... I can't figure out where the belville and fabuland would come in though...

So far I've built 3 MOCs with more than 5k parts, namely these:

Actually, my dad said I should use every piece I own all in one creation, build a big tower or something, but I could never think of what I would make.

Hmm, maybe I will try that someday, and use as many figs as possible, too.
wrap me in a bolt of lightning,
send me on my way still smiling,
maybe that's the way i should go:
straight into the mouth of the unknown....

Early on, with only a set or two to my name, I did try things like this. But now I have too much stuff. Only a fraction of Sava's, but still a lot.

I used all my green plates and almost all of my Light-Bluish-Gray bricks in my new Work-In-Progress castle

When i whas finished, i didn't have a single 1x1, 1x3, 1x4 or 1x6 brick left, only 10 or so 1x2's and a handful of 2x..'s

This is my biggest creation yet and I think it took around 3500 pieces, so no, I have never built anything with over 5000 pieces.

I usually restrict myself to a large green baseplate because I don't have much room to build and store a larger creation. I have made a series of large green baseplates that all connect together, though I doubt that was 5,000 pieces. I have made creations where I use up almost all of one color, namely white for some reason, but since I have about equal amounts of yellow, blue and red, it would be difficult to put everything together in one creation. I'd guess my largest MOC is 2,000 pieces give or take 100.

I can't deny, Belville has some very useful and otherwise hard to find parts!

If I built something with ALL (or almost ALL) of my pieces, it would have to be a big “multi-colour” gorilla sculpture – eating a big yellow banana. 8)

I did, once. In fact, that led directly to my discovery of the online community.

I've always been a big Lego fan, especially Castle, but when I went to college I packed it all away in my folk's attic. When I came back, my childhood best friend came up for the weekend. I had been going through my stuff and my big box of Lego was sitting on the dining room table. We started building as we caught up with each others lives and then my friend goes "Hey! Lets use every piece!" So we did. It took all weekend, but we built this massive, sprawling, weirdo space station (the castle guys were space knights ). Knowing what I know now, it wasn't that well-built, but we were happy with it and it was a great weekend. So, my friend went back home and I tore everything down. But I started wondering if you could buy Lego on Ebay. Talk about a slippery slope! Then I did a search for Lego and found Lugnet. And that, as they say, is all she wrote! Incidentally, I found Bricklink (Brickbay at the time) from a seller on Ebay.
