A Royal Knights Outpost

Hi everyone. Here is my latest MOC:
"A Royal Knights Outpost"
I wanted to practise my landscaping skills so i ordered some 'landscaping-bricks' from bricklink and started building. Its my 'first' real landscape i made (well i made some before but they were always small and never a main focus point in my mocs), my first snot river, and my first 'odd shaped' tower...(its a pentagon shaped tower)
So, to be short: it was fun to build this moc.
"On the border of the Royal Knights Kingdom is a small outpost build on an open grassy area close to the woods of the forestmen. In this scene we see a captain returning from a trip to the kings castle. He is welcomed back by his subordinates.....but some forestmen are hiding and planning an assassination! Can you spot all 3 forestmen?"
Enough talk

This is awesome- as a 'first' foray into landscaping you'd done well, fantastic even. I love the placement of the foliage, and that feeling that everything is a little overgrown and well, natural, is pretty good. The river and it's accompanying falls look great too- those curved slopes work a lot better than I would have imagined.
The tower's good too- I like how incredibly stylised it is- but if this is landscape 'practice', you can only get better. The challenge will be improving on this.

I agree - the landscaping is very well done! I like the mushrooms (I'll have to try that!) and the river - the waterfall especially.
The captain won't be happy with his men though (assuming he survives!) for letting the place get grown-over like that. Real castles (and later, forts) cleared everything a bow-shot (later, musket-shot) back from the walls so you
couldn't have ambushes like that. There would be nothing for them to hide behind!
Great MOC!
Edit - 25th post - Villein!

Like I said on msn, awesome job! Looks like landscape is your thing too.
I also love the way the building is placed at an odd angle with the landscape.

Thank you for the compliments people!

Haha, i havent thought about that, but you are right! As soon as the captain realizes i'm sure he will put his men to work! Lazy knights
Thanks again all, i'm glad you like it. What you see in this moc is about everything i have concerning foliage, dark grey slopes, and green slopes&plates...so it isnt much yet and i still want to order more

Me always wants more!

I saw this on Brickshelf and I think it's awesome! I wish I could do landscape that good! I like the Woodland people ready to ambush the knights.

The cliff edge leading down to the river looks great. The five sided roof is spectacular, what sort of piece did you use to make it? The foresters are a great touch and overall this is quite an "outpost".

Good looking outpost. Looks like a lot of time and detail has gone into it. The surroundings are wonderful as well. REally like the work you did with green pieces to change the terrain.
Here in Southampton the town is ordered to clear everythign from the walls 200 royal feet out. Not out of the bows reach but it would keep you from giving your enemies places to hide when attacking! Good luck to the royal knights in defending themselves!

Very beautiful, and some great sculpting in there. The tower is a little 'squat' for my tastes but it suits the landscaping so well I don't think I would change it ; )
God Bless,

Very nice! Your first attempt at landscaping you say? You seem to have the knack for it.
The tower is rather nifty as well. It has a sort of squat, cartoonish look going for it. I really like it, you've packed a lot of cool architectural details in there.

PS. Couldn't help but
blog it.

The use of the curved blue snot for the waterfall is a very clever idea.
The forestmen are well hidden, I had problems spotting them

Good work

Ah, the forestmen are really well camouflaged thanks to the foliage and the mushrooms. The best thing about this MOC is the small waterfall, it's absolutely flawlessly executed. The tower looks as if you had no problem solving any issues with the angles, nicely done.
