viking ship vs troll warship
Who gets your vote?
I have to say that i'm not sure.
The viking ship looks faster; however, the troll ship is made fir direct combat, ramming etc. It also has the giant troll for extra muscle. So i'm thinking the trolls win a standup fight, and the vikings win skirmishes.
Thoughts?

Well I don't know.
Both have launchers. Both have six man crews.
Always best to link the pictures of the sets.

I guess it depends on if we also include the monsters that come along with the sets. Perhaps the knight and his dragon would cancel the sea monster out. You still have the troll and the ram to deal with but overall the two sets are fairly equally matched I say.

The longboat has 6 oar-men, and the troll boat has 4.
Which means that with no wind the longboat would outrun the troll boat.
However, the ram might be very destructive.
But the missiles could perhaps sink the trllboat from a distance, if they can hit sea-serpents, they surely can hit troll boats.
But the troll boat have the same firepower. Then speed might be of essence in a naval battle. It would require lesser shots to sink a longboat than a troll boat, i think.
I think i will bet on the troll boat in this one.
... But then again i change my mind, because there were no braver and more skilled sea warriors from that time than the Vikings. ...
They were one with the sea. In a rough weather the trolls would become sea-sick and the Vikings would win. In a wind still weather the Vikings would have the advantage of speed, thus being able to control the battle. And during normal conditions the Vikings, tough as they are, would go berserk on the poor trolls.

Definately the troll warship. It comes with all of those figs plus a giant troll and a dragon.

I say the vikings would win. Their ships were supremely superior to other ships of the day. Not only were they made to cut through the waves, but some were reversible, meaning the bow could become the stern and vice-versa. That allows for some powerful combat options. Besides that, the Vikings actually have food on board. The trolls are ill-equipped for long sea voyages.
God bless.

Yea, but the dragon is not for the trolls! so...If the conflict arose it may go to the Vikings!castlebuilder100 wrote:Definately the troll warship. It comes with all of those figs plus a giant troll and a dragon.

I just bought the Troll Warship and I love it. I say it wins just for being awesome! It also goes up a level and gains 14 troll battle points.

Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

I have both. Just bought the troll ship so what I will do:
1) Put them side to side
2) get them off the shelf
3) Give both to my 3-yr old girl
4) Come back in about 15 min see which one survived...that should do it

Vikings hold the faster, more easily maneuverable boat. The supply of viking soldiers all hold axes and "zwords", which are heavy combat weapons, with which they can crush the bones of the skellies with ease.
The Skellies also have an advantage, a small boat on the side for making contact with the vikings. The ramming ability I am going to take out of the whole pot of things, as I predict that it would be fairly hard to turn a boat to face the enemy side, and either let the wind push you, or row, with enough force to damage it too badly to sink anything. Their giant troll drumming on the drums I think will be too big to be of any help in a ship battle. He might fall of and create a big wave, but that might be it. He could also slow down the skellie boat.
All in all, I think the Vikings would win the battle, though it could go either way, concidering the brains and brawn of the skellies. It all also depends on what you imagin the skellies to be: Hard to kill, or easy to kill.

The discussion is about the Orc (troll) Warship. No skellies involved.Blue Head wrote:Vikings hold the faster, more easily maneuverable boat. The supply of viking soldiers all hold axes and "zwords", which are heavy combat weapons, with which they can crush the bones of the skellies with ease.

Now there's another question...

EDIT: Go here to discuss if the trolls would win if the skellies joined their side.
