A new prototype item from BrickArms was displayed at BrickWord that I think Castle fans will be excited to see: the BrickArms Cleaver!

With unparalleled power behind its slash and chop, the BrickArms Cleaver is deadly even in the hands of a novice. Able to cut through armor and bone with a single stroke, this imposing weapon was inspired by the legendary Chinese da dao, a design that saw use on the front lines of warfare all the way to World War II and was reputed to remove the heads of enemies with ease. The BrickArms cleaver is an excellent choice for any figure who wants an truly imposing blade by their side!

As with any prototype, there is no release date set for this item nor is the design and color finalized. However, don't expect the design to change much (if at all) when the accessory sees full production.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, though the blade is much shorter. I guess this kind of blade could be used for some barbarians or something but there are many other cheaper options out there I think. Overall, I'm not too excited, though I saw a pic of the BrickArms display at BrickWorld. It was impressive.

Anyways, I think this will be great. I sure will buy some for my Saracens!

The overall shape is way better than the official LEGO version. It will be a nice addition to the BrickArms arsenal.

I love to see brickarms expanding to a broader variety of themes.

I think that that prototype is very nice, a great size and look. Well done to Brickarms!

Just for show. It's a very common design motif in Chinese weapons used to make the weapon more balanced. A bright colored cloth is often tied to the ring for a bit of added dazzle.

Yes, if I needed one or two I would probably buy them but If I needed a bunch I would not be willing to pay the extra money for the Brickarms ones.

I didn't know Will was planning this. There is need for more Middle-eastern and oriental weapons in general. I welcome the diversity. Will makes primo stuff, I hope he has some other things as well. His items aren't hyper-realistic, but in my opinion they strike the best balance between realism, and the not-humanly proportioned chunky world our beloved minifigs inhabit.

Well I for one have no problem at all shelling out my well-earned cash for top-notch items like these. Lighter wallet here I come!

Really, this is a fantastic addition to the BrickArms inventory. I love that Will crept away from the gun-making for a moment and came up with this beauty!

Last week, I tried to make a BrickArms order, but when I got to the payment screen, there was no "Pay" button or something of the like. No matter how many times I attempted to refresh and what all, I had no success (This Computer is kinda odd.. Has a mind of it's own I guess.). A little glad it didn't go through now, so I can hold out and get me a bunch of these as well.

I'll have to keep my mind well-occupied until then.

Very nice. I can see this being used by a number of groups. It has a very brutal but at the same time effective look to it.Is this the start of a Brickarms medieval/castle line? I did not know you made anything like this. Nice work indeed!

Glad to see such a positive reception from the C-C community. Edged items are something Badger and I have been pushing for, and the first three items have turned out really well and got some terrific, excited responses.

(The other two items are a KA-BAR combat knife and machete, which you can see in my BrickShelf BrickArms folder.)


Best I can tell you guys is that if you really like the way these items were designed and want to see BrickArms continue to expand into edged and other historical themes -- join the BrickArms forums and make your voices heard. Will really listens to his feedback and watches to see what people are requesting. If the demand is there, we might be able to persuade him to keep going in that direction (in addition to firearms, of course, which will always be the staple of BrickArms).

Definitely. Will is a stickler for taking a design 'to minifig proportions.' If it doesn't look 'LEGO-like,' he doesn't like it. Personally, I like the approach as well and think it tends to look really good, fitting BrickArms items seemlessly in with LEGO.

Damien, would you be willing to take a comparison picture of the LEGO knife and the KA-BAR, like Badger did for the Cleaver and Scimitar?
