Basil face, Moustache or grimace?

Post by Quickblade22 »

In a recent disscussion, I saw people refering to Basil's face having a moustache. That's what I thought it was until I caught it at a different angle. So my question is, is it a moustache or a grimacing frown? Here is the link to the Brick Link picture. If you own one, take a good look at it. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpx74

It's a moustache. If it's a grimace, then what's that yellow (same colour as skin) tooth doing in the symmetrical center?

When this first came out, I just saw it as a different style of moustache, kind of like the ones in style at the turn of the last century(1900's) or before. I guess it could be a frown, but for years had always considered it a moustache. It all depends on your perspective.

I thought it was a mustache too, but when you cover the cheek part for a sec then you can see that its a grimace.

I have spent many a sleepless night trying puzzle out the answer to this very question. Okay, not many sleepless nights. More like a sleepless five minutes or so. I've decided that its whatever you want it to be. Personally, I think its a dead squirrel.

I think it's a moustache personally.
But it could be either, I guess it just depends on your own perception.

It's a moustache. Yes, I see how one could find it similar to a grimace, but atleast to me it looks like a moustache. Plus, if you consider that at that time LEGO wasn't doing faces with all the detail, etc. that they are doing now, that just may be the idea of an evil moustache.

It's clearly a moustache to me. As was said earlier, that makes the most sense with the style of minifig head that Lego was producing at the time.

Interesting topic though.

I always thought it was a moustache. an odd large bat like moustache. I'm not sure that it would be a grimice i guess but I always though a grimace looked like this http://garotasquedizemni.ig.com.br/archives/grimace.jpg

Ok, you guys are all whacked! :P . If it is intended to be a moustache, I think it it one of the most ridiculous moustaches in history. Either way, it is one of my least liked minifig heads, (yes, just as much as Timmy). Thanks for your thoughts.
