I think that scratched and faded shields are useful for battle scenes. A better solution for shields would be to order shields from bricklink. I think knights kingdom shields are around $.30 each.

Thanks for the tip, I checked it out, and the cheapest ones out there are the sand blue from count dookus speeder. That works great for me because I sort of hate to cover up the ones that have stuff printed on them already.
