Castle Masterworks 1: Towers

For some time there has been on and off discussion concerning the creation of a comprehensive list of the very best AFOL castle MOCs. Every year hundreds of incredible MOCs are built, however as time passes many of these gems go forgotten or overlooked by much of the community. Many new fans have never seen some of these older MOCs, missing out on some beautiful creations and inspirational ideas.

To that end, I am suggesting compiling a list of MOCs that fans feel to represent the very best in a variety of categories: Castles, Towers, Vignettes, Landscaping, Village Life, Ships and Carts, Interiors, Churches and Cathedrals, Beasts etc., etc.. While making a complete list that satisfies everybody is likely impossible, a list that touches upon what many fans regard to be the very best is very possible.

The idea here is relatively simple. Each member is invited to select his or her top five castle tower MOCs. Where appropriate, please provide a link and the name (or screen name) of the builder. If a previous poster has already chosen one of your top five, simply restate the builder and his or her work. The idea is to choose your top five rather than simply list as many different MOCs as possible. Don't worry if your choices have already been posted.

*In the interest of fairness; I would ask fans to please not post their own works. We all know that we secretly love our own efforts the most  .

With that being said, let's give this a go.

My selections are as follows:

1. Tower of Brothers (Noddy)
Image

2. Tower of Judgement (Cyin)

3. Tower in the Lonely Woods (Jojo)

4. Observatory (DARKSpawn)

5. Sequel to Island Tower (Weasel47)

Cool stuff Blueandwhite :)
My guess is, to make a comprehensive list we only post MOCs that haven't been posted in this thread already, so here's my addition:

Leian Castle (Rebelrock)

Wizard's Tower (oppienokki)

That is Tower on the Water by RebelRock (Rocko).

To this list I would add Steve DeCraemer's [url=http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=%22winter+home%22+lego&m=text]Winter Home of the Happy Sunshine People."

Unfortunately afaik he has no gallery of photos of this beauty. You pretty much have to dig through people's photos from BrickWorld 2007.
I'll dig through later and see what other towers should definitely be in my top 5. Definitely a couple of the ones already mentioned, but maybe some others.

This is a cool idea, BlueandWhite. I think "beasts" should be broken up to give a separate category for dragons, maybe also split fantastic from mundane beasts. Micro would be another good category, also, though maybe this wouldn't belong so much in this sub-forum, but favorite custom fig.

Great idea B&W!
I have recently come out of my dark age and had only only seen three of the nine that have been posted.
This thread has already been very helpful.
Thanks

Oh wow, thank you RebelRock, that is a builder that I hadn't heard of before. I agree with Pluto, this thread has been very helpful! Opening up fantastic MOCs in an orderly way. A terrific idea for a topic!

I just got a crazy idea. Someone should produce a book with photos and perhaps some written thoughts by some of the creators. Like, a full size coffee table book with professionally shot photos (not to say that there are plenty of excellent moc photogs out there). I know, I know, the difficulty involved, the worthy mocs that are no longer in existence, the logistics, blah blah etc etc. Forget all that for a moment. How awesome would the result be?

Wow, some really great MOCs here. Great idea! I know I'll have to budget some time this weekend to look/study these beauties.

It's still pretty recent, but the way it's been built means it's a worthy inclusion.

edit- any chance of getting these threads stickied, or maybe added to the homepage? They've been great and are full of inspiration, i'm sure many would agree.
