Hi I need some help.... I can't make good ships (pirate/castle ships) because I don't have hull pieces........ anyone know any good techniques that work for the hull of a ship? If yes can you provide a picture. Thanks!

It can be done but is very parts intensive.
Easier to get some hulls from BL

Ships don't have to be built from hull pieces.
Case in point.
Just use your imagination!

Thanks! I might try making a hull with that design.

how big a ship are you making? I made a hull from
these by putting them sideway using SNOT technique. SNOT is a very very effective way of building a boat/ship... I've also used
these
And Ben E here had some plans for a cute little ship only using one hull piece.

That's oddly convenient timing.
That hull is not terribly parts intensive either. A hollow core with the side panels hinged on with click hinges and ball rotation hinges. Very cheap as an added bonus.

Hey,
Some other instances of ships built without the prefab hull pieces (drawn from previous CCC's):
Hippotam's Last Journey (note the "making of" folder)
Lomero's sampam
DARKspawn's seahound
BohuslavIII's cog
(using these
boat bricks)
Lomero's cog
K1089's fishing boat
Cnelson's cog
Update - not from a CCC, but I just noticed this great MOC by DARKspawn, the
Black Meg
Probably a lot of other good examples can be found over on our sister-site,
Forbidden Cove. I don't read those forums as religiously as these.

The Fire Nation ship in the very brief Avatar line of 2006 had a nice brick built hull. A little digging on Lego's site would probably find the instructions.
