ah good point.
either or really. And I accept hulls of any color, black, red, white, etc. Sails and masts are always welcome. Incompleet ships are good, masts and spars, and full sets are best of all.
The only figs i 'really' want are imperial armada though, so in all other cases the figs are expendable.
thanks

I will have a 6285 set to sell in a 2-3 weeks, I need to clean it up, and rebuild the set to make sure it is complete.
The white/red sail are in great condition (9/10) and all minifig are in perfect condition (10/10).
Let me know if you are interested.
Steve.

After a good clean up (3 hours), the 6285 set (Black Seas Barracuda) is in great shape, more then I hope for....
It is 99.9% complete, only missing a 35cm black rope, for the small brown life boat.
My asking price is $200usd, + shipping. I will ship to Canada & the United States. My Bricklink & Ebay feedback is 100%.
If you have any question, please pm me.

The cheapest sold matches I saw for LEGO 6285 were $63 and $76, both of which were advertised as incomplete and sold "as-is", without a clear description of what is missing. There is a best-lock brand ripoff of 6285 for $60 though . . . anything advertised as complete went for over $100. The problem with buying vintage used LEGO sets on Ebay is sellers always say things like "it should all be here" or "looks complete but I don't know...".

Agreed, I've been watching these on ebay for quite a while and very rarely can you get them for under $100. I would highly recommend just watching ebay for a couple weeks to see what they go for before you bid on anything and that will give you a rough idea what to expect. You may also have more success picking something up post-Christmas.
Also, I have bought maybe 7 or 8 sets on ebay in the last 4 or 5 months. Of those, 1 of them was advertised as incomplete with an accurate listing of the missing parts. Of the remaining 6 or 7 sets, they were ALL advertised as being 100% complete, but were ALL missing a couple pieces. None of them were rare pieces or difficult to get, but you have to really watch what you buy on ebay. I'm not sure if people are being deliberately dishonest, or just negligent but it's really annoying to get a set and find out you have to spend another $10 to get all the extra pieces. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Yes the quality of ebay lego has gone down since the rise of bricklink. That being said, as LA says the prices are tempting.
I'm especially interested in gettin ga cu rate redbeard runner or SES as i plan to mod them anyway. <The SES cabin needs retooled, ad some deck space and 'fix' the cannon arrangment by removing those lame swivels.

Bump
and amendment
since ships are proving hard to come by, no surprise there..... I shall amend my request and ask for hulls.
In no particular order of want
Black center sections from 7029
red bow, center, stern from redbeard runner
hull from HP ship
hull from armada flagship/extra center sections
traditional bow, sterm from other pirate ships
will buy or trade
