Well, after an hour of searching the Internet and various LEGO forums, I've broken down and decided to just ask, since I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Whatever happend with the Harry Potter license? Did LEGO ever make an official announcement about it?

Listen to the LAML interview with Steve Witt from a few weeks ago. He said HP is not coming back.

Aww  I liked the Potter Castle sets, they usually had some good parts.
Pity...

The Hogwarts sets were nifty, but then Steve (in the above interview) had an excellent point that smaller, dynamic sets were difficult to develop from the Harry Potter franchise as vehicles don't tend to feature prominently in the storylines.

I'd also say that if losing Potter meant TLG could bring us the Castle line, I have no problem with that!

Good news!

death to licenses!

I'm glad lego is back to making grade A castles rather than HP bricklink fodder, no?

Any word on if HP made lego decent money?

I would think the answer is an obvious no. If the license made money it would still be going.

And based on the current request from the Ambassadors for future themes which should feature good/bad guys, it appears that all themes must have conflict and vehicles.

Where is the conflict in City Construction?

Man vs nature? The man vs environmentalists? Buildings vs gravity? Endless possibilities, but we really need some representation of these forces the construction guys must fight every moment. Maybe a protester figure set is in order?

In my experience, little boys (and big boys, too!) have an instinctive appreciation for construction related toys. I used to play with my Tonka trucks for hours in the sandbox.

I never had good Lego construction vehicles, but you can bet I would have played with them if they were available at the time!

What do you guy shave against conflict?

I mean we wouldnt buy a book with no conflict so why a lego set?

Harry Parter was a decent line for parts but now that we have a real Castle line, I'm glad to see it go.

My 2 cents,
Josh

I would have far rather had the Harry Potter sets than Star Wars.

Oh, and Image

I agree 100%, I'm just bummed that I missed out. The first couple years of the sets, I hadn't read the books and wasn't interested. The next couple years were my recent dim age. Oh well! There's always BL if I really need a part or fig from the sets. Anyways, thanks for the info everyone.
