Brickfest PDX 2009 Planning Thread

Hey, CC!
Brickfest PDX 2009 is coming! Registration opened earlier this week. Who's going?
I figured now that registration's open, it's time to start planning. And to start off, I have a question: who's the Castle coordinator?
Do we want to do an epic battle like
BFPDX07? Do we know how much space we have to fill? Are we paired up with any other themes (Vikings, Pirates, Other Historical)?
Let the planning begin!

I won't be coordinating, as I won't be there. If there is a coordinator, I'll bet Richard knows. Hope you all have a great time!
Josh
PS. If there is no coordinator...I nominate Caylin.

At this point I can make it, but if Chris can't go, I can't, so it's on him.

Ta dah! Here is your castle co-ordinator! I am very busy with the PR aspects for the Con, but I am stepping up. I am looking for some help, especially at the con itself. Any of you there two years ago may remember the TV and radio stuff I did. I anticipate more of that this year. So I would love to have boots-on-the-ground help especially on Friday. If anyone is willing, PM me.
In two weeks I will know the dimensions and measurements of the display space. We will be in the same room as BF '07, and I anticipate a similar setup. I am pushing for a display that will have an open area "inside" the display. I think it gives a good base during the public hours, though following BF tradition we will have just Sunday as a public day. Lots more time to stage the display.
So let's brainstorm. We haven't staged a large battle since BF '07. They are crowd pleasers, are we ready for that?
As a basic concept I can see a bad guy castle on one side (in a desert setting perhaps), a good guys castle at the other end (a more classic medieval setting), and a battle in the intervening space, as well as multiple feet of landscaping, forests, roads, water, and assorted madness and absurdity.
What would you like to do?
I had a wacky idea about a monochromatic 375/6075 Yellow castle display. A classic yellow castle, and a blue, red, clear, white, whatever colors we could build one of.
I would also like to plan a castle get together. I was thinking that one of the Saturday classroom-type sessions could be the right thing. One of the most fun con-things for me now is to get to know new people, and know old friends better.

Josh and Ted, you will be sorely missed! I sure hope the Wunz boys can make it!
Roll call request: who will/will not be there?

I will be there. I am registered.
I know Tom R. will hopefully be there, but he's unsure at this point how much he'll be able to bring if anything. If we do a battle, he may be able to swing that. He won't be able to contribute much landscaping or anything.
The cathedral no longer exists in the form it was previously, but it will be there. Kind of. Sorta.
I'm thinking battle. it's relatively easy, and the kids love setting it up (slave labor!). It's huge and takes up space.
Anyone know if Robin's bringng his round castle again?

I don't think I'll make it, since I'm not known to make to many Brick festivals and conventions.
Maybe one day though.. Maybe one day..

As of now I am planning on coming (although Thomas, you and I need to talk about entry fees...) My boss and I hope to bring some stuff we've been working on, but that depends on Mr. Barilie. And my coming depends a fair amount on the outcome of that, so we'll see.
So for now I am a
tentative yes.

I regret that due to poor finances, motivation, and timing it is unlikely that I will be making it up this year. Have fun y'all, I'll let you know if things change.
