The next installment in my "Entrance to the Caves" series is now finished:

I'm really quite proud of this model. There is a lot of detail, a new curved tower technique, and some fairly impressive caves...

Wow. VERY impressive. I like your details. (i did miss the other, so thanks for the link to that as well. That MOC vas awesome).
I also like the fact that it is so huge. You really get the feeling that this is a large mountain with many secrets.

That is impressive! I love the cave and the look of the snow and rocks. The tower is neat as well. I have never had good luck with round towers yet but everytime I see these I want to give it a new try (someday I will get it down!). Nice work. The story going on is cool as well, a explore/adventure feel.

Great work, Nathan. That's a very interesting tower design, too. 8)

I have been waiting realy ong for this! A worthy continuation of the Entrance to the Caves I dare say. Your skill at landscaping is quite spectacular, and that tower is really good of course.

So, will we have to wait as long for the next one? ;)

That's very nice! I saw that beacon tower in a picture on your webside, and i wondered which MOC it was from. Great landscaping and rockwork :)

Excellent stuff- the scale and amount of slopes on the hillside is incredible, but I love the interior and the cave system. I like how you've handled the water too.

Great site too- pics loaded fast and it was all a lot better than Brickshelf. :wink:

Hey Nathan,

This looks fantastic. I particularly like the cave bits. The snowscaping, while massive and impressive, is a bit more one-note to me. Very cool tower idea. How many wedges went into that? Is it just friction that holds the columns of wedges together? Is the tower attached at the bottom somehow?

BTW, sorry I haven't had a chance yet to go through the whole site and give you some feedback, but my initial glance through it leaves me very impressed.

Definately a very high level of creativity with this MOC. I like how the snow is uneven on the top layer. The caves are very nice, especially the water. Great Job!

Intentionally, I'll hasten to add ; ) I really wanted the caves and beacon to stand out in contrast to a barren snow scape...

The tower is attached via the tried and true 1x1 round plates amidst tiles method, and yes the columns are held together by friction. I can't remember the exact number of wedges, but it is more than 20 per layer... annoyingly hard to obtain as well... ; )
