The thing about the wolfpack is.....

They can be whatever you want them to be!
That's the great thing about lego!

Apart from Forestmen and Dark Forest themselves, wolfpack are probably the most likely to live in a forest. They are bandits (at least according to me) and a forest is a good spot to hind and ambush.
I build, therefore I am.

Hello!

From their fortress I dare saying the Wolfmen are river dwellers ;) However, they are apparently robberers so they most likely are roaming the woods a lot, too.

I have always thought of wolfpack as outlaws and deserters that lived in remote arias. I think any place that is secluded from civilization (like a clandestine fortress in the mountains) would be a perfect place for them to live. But because they are Lego, you can make them whatever you want.

Well, since Wolfpack come from those great olde days of myth and legend, when you actually had to invent all of your story and characters, they can by whatever you want.

Here's what I would suggest as being reasonally close to "factual": the Wolfpack live in the mountains. Why? Because mountains are out of the way, and are great locations for ambushing travellers, requirements for any bandit gang. I also this that they live in mountains because of the design of the Wolfpack Tower: it rises out of a pile of rock.

It is also at least a slightly wooded area, as evidenced by the Ghost's Hideout. And there is a major road (on which travellers are ambushed, and the Wolfpack wagon travels). There is also a major lake, where they the Wolfpack have their hideout.

Of course, this is just one man's take on the situation.

This is similiar to my take on the Wolfpack - they are a hill or mountain clan. The traditional thing for hill clans to do was come down to raid, and when things got hot they'd fall back to the rough country where they had defenses built, could launch ambushes, or just disappear around the next crest. Classic raiders: Not good at a stand-up fight, prefering to hit and run, ambush, and disperse or hole-up where it was tough to get at them.

I've always thought that the wolfpack were forest dwellers for the simple reason that wolves live in forests.
However Josh's statement that they live in remote areas put an idea in my mind: it would be cool to see somebody make the wolfpack as desert bandits. Now I know that doesn't exactly go with the sets but I still think It'd be neat.

Was there another forest faction available at the same time that Wolfpack figures were in stores?

Technically, the Wolfpack and the Forestmen were released at different dates, although if my (VERY FAULTY) memory serves, several sets were available at the same time in 1992.

Although the Wolfpack continued to be available throughout 1993 and 1994, whereas the Forestmen (officially if not in actuality) did not.

The last set to be 'officially' available with a Wolfpack, 6105 Medieval Knights, was still 'officially' available for the last time in 1996, the same year the Dark Forest were released.

So, I guess, the answer is yes. :)
