Apologies if this has been mentioned, but i saw mention on brickset that the new collectable figs have a cheap 'china' feel.

Can anyone confirm or refute?

If they are made in china, I for one will have none of them.

What exactly does China feel like? It should feel just like any other place right? Hehe kidding.

All joking aside, I'm pretty sure they are of the same usual minifig quality. Also, where they are made has no effect on quality; that is based on whether or not they decide to cut corners with the quality of the molds and such.

The figs are indeed made in China, but the quality problems that LEGO had with figs produced in China have been solved a while ago when LEGO sent a quality control commitee to the company that they outsourced these "extended line" figures to.

Yes, this is what I was going to ask. Huw's flickr stream has a bunch of photos of figs that come in sets and figs that come in magnet sets. The ones in magnet sets are made in China and have a 1, 2, or number on their wrist or arm, or....something.

It's also said that China figures have blockier printing than normal figs meaning the lines on the torso print are larger and not as fine.

Being not in Europe, I will have to wait till June to get these. But if someone hasn't confirmed this by the time I get mine, I'll let you know. I hope they are not made in China!

But not only minifigs are made there. Things that show up in their own separate bags are made in China such as Camels, Rock Monsters, (I think Tauntauns), etc.

There was a lot of outcry; I believe; over the Castle Chess sets for the low quality as well.

I really hope these aren't the case.

I'm confused as to the complete lack of interest. Swapping out arms takes all of 30 seconds, and, aside from the lime green clown, the arms are in pretty common colors.

I don't mind the imprints. They're not readily apparent in most circumstances.

It was my understanding that those imprints were going to become more common, as a way to prevent unauthorized copies of the figures...

I don't feel like buying a bunch of arms. Thus, saving more money in the long run (no minifigs and no extra arms).

I don't think companies realize sometimes the long term damage caused by cutting corners and quality, even long after the original problem has been fixed. I think the quality fears mentioned are certainly understandable, but if the issue has been fixed (which I'm sure it has) then I will have no problem picking up as many as I can, regardless of where they're made.

In a worst case scenario, they cost only a couple bucks/euros each. Buy one and check them out before making a big investment in a bunch of them and if you decide they're not up to par, then at least you're not out a ton of money.

I don't think people realize that the quality issues have been addressed. The knee-jerk "No China" mentality is a bit short-sighted at this point.

^^Agreed! Also remember that TLG outsourcing these to a manufacterer in China means that they can offer these items at a lower cost while still earning the margins than businesses so love. I'd rather have $2 figs made in China than $4 dollar figs made in Denmark...or not made at all because they aren't cost effective enough to be commercially viable. This is the reason so many things are made over there.

I wants me some forestman, cheerleader and caveman without a doubt. Most of the rest look very good for a LEGO fan to populate the themes with. How can you say no if you have access to them?
