Two NEW Lego Themes from the Far East

Post by Forestboy »

Hop on a plane and fly to Egypt or Japan because Lego is going back to its late to mid 90s roots! Lego has put out the US versions the mini-sites of "Pharaoh's Quest" and "Ninjago", two new themes. There's not much on either sites, although Pharaoh has more than ninja.

I was pretty pleasantly surprised by Pharaoh's Quest, but yet still surprised because of the release of the Pharaoh collectible minifig and the Lego game "Ramses Pyramid". I thought that was all the Egypt we were getting. For those of you who can't figure out the password to the book laying in the sand, it's "Pharaohs Quest". :D Right now, it looks like an Atlantis style adventure because of the journal, with a quirky main character of "Prof. Archibald Hale". He has awesome explorer minifig parts! :tasty: I'm already eating this up.

With Ninjago, it's just kind of "meh" for me right now. I'll be looking forward to what happens. I know my little brother will love it.

So, it's official! What's your opinion? :raiseone:

Hey all,

Just a note of clarification on policy. We do not traffic in illicit leaks - for instance, the photos of upcoming sets that were obviously stamped "confidential" and posted online (and in some cases later taken down). But LEGO has started to post some preliminary information on their site. So please keep discussion limited to what can be gleaned from the two links FB gave above, and not what you may happen to know from illicit leaks that you may or may not have already seen. So, for instance, with the Ninjago.lego.com link, all we can really say is "Wow! Ninjas are coming back in some form!" We can see more on the Egypt one, including the winged minifigs.

Pharaoh's quest, thoughts

Post by timber_wolf899 »

Given that the microsite is up, I'm assuming this is now fair game.

So, what are your thoughts, ladies and gentlemen?

I'm interested on the genesis of this theme as it relates to either old adventurers or IJ. I'm pondering the chicken/egg causality here.

Hey,

I've merged these two threads to help keep the conversation together.

On the Egypt theme I am most excited. Finally some serious Jaffa minifigures to back up my Goa'uld Ra from the minifig series 2. :tasty:

I think that we'll have great part sets for Near and Far east.
All the tan sets and the mummys are a must-have thing for me.
Ninjago is also cool. Ninjas fighting skellies that have machines.
I think that there'll be much for ninja fans and for Apoc fans.
Great themes I think. I have to save some money for them...
You can see my MoCs on my Flickr Account and you can see them also on my Blog where you also can read the stories behind the MoCs...but in german.

Hmm, both of the pages the original post linked to have been pulled. Methinks they weren't quite ready to publicly announce this.

I had that problem too, and thought the same at first. Then I reset my browser (cleared cache, cookies, etc.) and then I could link to them okay.

I actually saw the pages from a confidential catelogue in Dutch before it was removed. I expect the Holiday Catelogue to have sets from both these themes.

I think Egypt would be the near East... or at least middle East...

I'm rather excited about the Egyptian sets. Though I don't know how many angry mummies I really need...

Winged goddesses are a fairly common motif. Probably just drawing on that, especially given the sketch that illustrated it...but the Horus mask with the wings? Not so much. Bad mashup maybe?
