Defending the mine

Post by Michal H./gearcs »

Orc intruders are attacking in the mine of Magnoth the Dragonslayer...
The statue of Magnoth stands upon the skull of Magmar - the grey dragon.

This is a gorgeous MOC. How did you do the texture on the walls and such? Is it a embossing tool in Photoshop or something similar?

Yes, I'll second that. That's the first thing that came to mind, Moria. The orc invaders look more like a band of "adventurer" orcs; more unique than ordinary ones. I like the statue of the dragon head and Dwarf on top, very creative. Nice work.

I love the details. The stone work, the staircase, the statue, all of it. Well done. :D

Thank you all! :)

Josh: It's Filter-Render-Lighting Effects in Photoshop, then change Texture channel to some colour...

3rded.

It's beautiful and very dwarfy, especially with all the geometric shapes and patterns in the stonework. As usual, I love your taste in figs for this MOC. One thing I'd like to know is if theres anything more to the backstory, because if there is I'd loke to hear it.

I Concur with everything said so far. i love the statues built into the walls, the pillars, and how the pillars flow into the roof.

And the Moria vibe... definitely feeling it. :D

When I first saw this, I assumed immediately that it was Moria, and am surprised to see that it is not. Anyway, I think I already raved about this on flickr, but: wow. What atmosphere. What size. What a cool MOC. It's just oozing with personality and flair from every corner.

Wow. Just Wow. The pillars are great, as are the not-so-stock minifigs and the stonework is phenomenal.
